This town was founded by and built by the Army in the 40's and now most of it is owned by the railroad. Driving there from Anchorage you must go through the Whittier tunnel. Cost is $13.00 per car and that gets you in and out. Or, you may choose to ride the Alaska Railroad there from Anchorage

The building and hallway the property was in were a little run down. However the inside of the property was clean and nice. Communication with the owner was very good.

Property easy to locate and access. Kitchen WELL stocked with everything you could possibly want. Courtesy washer and dryer right across the hall. We didn't hear any neighbors (if there were any) even though most of Whittier's population lives in this building. Excellent view of the mountains surrounding the harbor.

Great space and location, Terrible communication
The space was nice and the neighbors were very friendly. We just had a bad experience with the check-in and check-out process. We weren’t given any information on room number or how to check-in from the owner. After messaging her for info, we didn’t get a response until 3 hours later. Thankfully the building manager was in her office and knew the owner of the apartment we were renting and pointed us to the correct room. It was a very weird experience.

Whittier is a wonderful place to visit. Laura and Rachel go out of their way to make you as comfortable as possible. The condo is clean and safe. Defiantly take the cruise when your there.

Quaint Alaskan Fishing Village
This Unit was exactly as advertised and served our needs perfectly!! We were met by Rachael on our arrival with keys and area information. She was very helpful making us comfortable in this very unique fishing village. There was also a great shower with a full kitchen with a deep freeze !!

We had a great stay here! The lady managing the place is super friendly and helpful. The apartment is exactly as pictured - very cute, comfortable, and clean. The town of Whittier is very unique, as most of its residents live in this same condo building… truly a town under one roof. We enjoyed learning about its military history, and of course, the views of Prince William Sound. If you love small towns and the sense of community that comes with it, you’ll love staying at Whittier Wild!
