Visually, the trim & finishing of this place are great - very antique. High ceilings, etc. The bathroom was scary small. The bed was adequate but far from comfortable. We especially enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the ferries and other boats come and go. Their "after-thought" elevator in the side alley was a mechanical struggle, but it did get us and a wheelchair off the ground. Food was pleasant but my meatballs are better! At the front desk, Hedwig was a great hostess...in fact, everyone was eager to answer questions, bring coffee, etc. Be forewarned - parking is a nightmare. Have them valet park your car if you brought one.
I'd recommend this hotel to any able-bodied traveler. For the handicapped, it can be a project. Don't worry about the ferry whistles all night - they stop around 6 or 7 PM.
