The Tidnish Pearl is a Precious Gem!
The Tidnish Pearl lives up to it’s name, it is a real gem! Norma & Rick were amazingly reliable and generous hosts, promptly replying to all my questions and concerns. Upon arrival at The Pearl, we were treated to a welcome tray of bottles of wine, complimentary certificates to check out the local winery and ice cream parlour, homemade loaves of bread and jam. All were delicious!! Our little ones also received personalized gifts which were perfect for the beach and the cottage. The house is just so darn cute and homey, with plenty of room for family and friends. Each uniquely decorated room is a delight for the senses. The well stocked kitchen will remind you of your Grandma’s and take you back to the good ole days. The Tidnish Pearl is centrally located and is only a 20 minute drive to Amherst, a little further to the quaint town of Pugwash, with several beautiful beaches, for exploring low tide, in between. Be sure to check out the Winegarden Estate winery and distillery, which is just around the corner and up the road. If you want to learn a thing or two about art, we also recommend visiting the Blue Heron Gallery located in Lornville, which is also a short drive. We were thoroughly delighted with the Tidnish Pearl and were so sad to leave. This little cottage perfectly represents Nova Scotia and is as inviting and welcome as the people who inhabit this province and the East Coast.

Beautiful home & fantastic host
The house was beautiful and spacious, and was equipped with everything we needed, plus lovely touches like fresh bread & jam and wine tasting coupons! Norma, Maxine, and Piercy were great hosts and super responsive. The house is in a serene neighborhood with a huge lawn, and having breakfast on the back porch was idyllic. :) This was a great home base for us to explore the area. We recommend Island Hill Farm on PEI (we got to hold baby bunnies!), the Winegarden Estate right near the house, the Hopewell Rocks, and afternoon tea at Jassy Boutique in Moncton!

This property is very well maintained. The home is equipped with everything you could possibly need. It is very spacious and Norma ensures that you arrive to the warmest welcome with fresh baked bread homemade jam and a bottle of wine. Located near many historical sights, a beach with seals, a winery that were so welcoming an art gallery and an amazing restaurant called the Blue Cat.

Peaceful and Serene
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Tidnish Pearl. The home is beautiful, location serene, and the people are friendly and welcoming. Norma and Rick were great hosts and left goodies for us and the kids which we throughly enjoyed during our stay. We highly recommend checking out Winegarten Estates (and their summer concert series) which is located nearby. We are looking forward to our next vacation at the Tidnish Pearl.

Lovely home and wonderful host
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely heritage home. As other reviewers have written, Norma could write a book on hosting!. There was nothing we lacked in our stay. The extra special touches waiting for us when we arrived (fresh baked bread and homemade jam and a bottle of wine for us and gifts our teens) and Piercy, the local handyman, who checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable made our stay more memorable. The home was more space than we needed as a family of four and we enjoyed the antiques that decorate the home. It was a lovely stay to cap off our trip to Nova Scotia!

Fun at the Tidnish Pearl
The Pearl is a beautiful old home with many rooms and space for a large group. Three bedrooms, (one is attached to another) bathrooms, good wifi, great space for kids and dogs outside. Everything you need is provided….beach towels, beach toys, outdoor games, fire pit with wood, descent bikes and trails close by, a fully loaded kitchen including tons of spices, baggies, foil and plastic wrap, soaps, and every kitchen tool needed! Norma thoughtfully treated us to to a amazing tray with wines, homemade breads, butter, jam and complimentary passes to Winegarden Estates, 10 minutes away. It is such an amazing wine tasting experience, we highly recommend it. Piercy, the handyman is so friendly and thoughtful. He came by everyday to see if we needed anything and always dropped off something from his garden or oantry. 😋 Maxine is close by if anything needs attention in the house. The Northport beach, 20 minutes away has gorgeous red sand lots of tide pools and the warmest water! The Birkinshaw Tea house in Amherst is a fun experience. We loved our stay at The Tidnish Pearl!

Beauty abounds
We spent 24 glorious days in Tidnish, barring the occasional trip to Halifax. Everything was as expected with a couple of small exceptions. It took a few days and a couple conversations with people to figure out exactly how to get to the suspension bridge trail which was unfortunately very overgrown. As well the third bedroom or room with twin beds is only accessible through the queen bedroom, not a big deal for a family but if you have mixed families it may take a bit of negotiating :). The pictures are 100% representative of the house, we cooked lobster with friends and had a meal fit for a king in the dining room, everything we needed was there. We luxuriated in the front room after dinners and I loved reading my book curled up on the chaise lounge where the sun shone in most mornings. The second living room/TV room was perfect for catching up with the world in the morning , we had difficulty with calls until I found the perfect reception in the twin bedroom. There is also a landline if needed. We were welcomed with fresh bread and jam, wine and even treats for our dog. We took advantage of the wine tasting at the Winegarten in near by NB and it was spectacular! We drove the quick 5 minutes up the road to the Tidnish Docks park most days and it was a little slice of heaven. The true beauty of the place was in the people we met. Piercy the care taker is an absolute gem, Maxine was so kind and happy to pitch in if anything was needed. The local folks are some of the best people I have ever met. In a nutshell GO ! Norma makes sure everything and anything you need is available. On that note the house was equipped with so much more than I would have guessed available; beach towels, outdoor games, dog bowls if needed, umbrellas....everything!

The Pearl!! :)
Amazing house - we loved all the character of the home and how much space there was for our family. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could ever want - and then some!! We even got jam, butter, bread, and wine! Also my three year old was given a welcome treat! He loved it! So thoughtful! Communication with Norma and Piercy was quick and easy! We had a challenging time outside - time of the year when the mosquitos were pretty bad - but even outside was stocked! My son loved riding the small bike and helmet in the garage!! They were a perfect fit! Even though the house is not “child proofed” - I would certainly recommend the Pearl for families! We look forward to coming back!

For the first five months of 2020, due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I had the opportunity to stay at the Tidnish Pearl. It was the most comforting, delightful and satisfying of times. Our host Norma was wonderful down to the smallest detail. We arrived to a loaf of fresh baked bread homemade jam and generous fruit platter. Gorgeous roses on the dining table. Fireplace and outdoor fire pit stocked with wood for the delightful cool nights. Milky Way also supplied. The country kitchen had everything a chef could desire to prepare feasts of all sizes. Feather pillows, crisp linens, comfortable beds meant a good nights sleep and off we went on our 4 to 6 mile hikes on trails throughout the area. 5 star dining nearby at Le Chat Bleu, 15 minutes from Amherst for essentials. A wonderful vacation for replenishing the spirit. 9 days were not enough. Thankyou Norma

Norma and her staff Maxine and Percy were amazing. We arrived to a sparkling clean and well presented home that was Pride and Prejudice worthy. Above and beyond any expectation we had!
Our family made the journey to Tidnish to visit family and friends for 11 days. We could not have asked for a better cottage rental. It was clean, big enough for all 3 of generations of our family and had everything that we needed during our stay. Norma was very easy to contact before and during our stay. All of the little touches such gifts for the children, fresh bread, jam and wine for the adults were the cherry on top. We will definitely be keeping this place in mind for future visits and will be recommending it to all of our family and friends. Thank you Norma and others for helping us to create such amazing memories that will be cherished for years.

Lovely, quaint, clean and homey!
You cannot hope for a better "rental" hostess than Norma. Not only is she very accessible to communicate with before your stay, she is very accommodating with specific needs. We had two family members that needed to have a bed on the first floor, and three members that needed to be together in the second floor room (where there are twin beds). Norma and her staff supplied two sturdy cots that made these requests possible - and everyone in the house reported great nights of sleep! The sofa bed in the piano room supplied one of those two first-floor needs; my elderly uncle was comfortable there. The bathrooms, although not featured in the photos, are quite accommodating, modern, roomy and clean. The piano was a special treat and it experienced frequent use as we are a family of musicians and musician wannbees! We had so much fun and the property was a perfect get-together spot to receive additional cousins (staying in a "dollhouse", but sweet, rental nearby). We feel so fortunate to have found the Tidnish Pearl! Thank you Norma (and her supporting "cast") who are ever-ready to make your visit delightful. Karen & Cousins

As quaint as Anne’s Green Gables
This quaint historic property was just what we needed for an extended family gathering. You can’t beat sitting in a rocker on the front verandah catching up on family lore or staying up late in front of the fireplace sipping wine. The location is great if you want to experience something of all three provinces & accesses many beaches. Twin beds in one bedroom probably a bit hard to sleep on for adults but ok for kids. The kitchen was the best stocked place we’ve ever rented in terms of dishes & accessories. And then they even supplied mosquito repellent! We also made use of the bikes. Nice touch when you’re out in the country. We discovered a part of our country we did not know before.

A splendid, charming traditional clapboard home, “Tidnish Pearl” fabulously well-equipped, too.
This old family home is immaculately well-kept. Our multi generational family was thrilled with our stay here: wonderful linens, comfortable beds, and everywhere we looked thoughtful touches, fresh fruit and flowers left out for arrival, blankets and throws on every comfortable chair in case there was a draft. The weather was fairly cool while we were there, temperature never above 12, but the house Is so bright and sunny, with garden and neighbourhood views in all directions, that the house was cheerful regardless of the time of day or the weather outside. There were also numerous welcoming touches which showed just how seriously your hosts take hosting: there was a fire already laid in the fireplace and the damper was open! The ice in the freezer - just perfect for the end of travel scotch! – has been freshly made just before we arrived. There was fresh bread from the local bakery, preserves made by the caretaker, and our local handyman swung by just to see that everything was shipshape, and to our liking. This was, without doubt, the most elegant, comprehensively run home we have ever stayed in, and if there is a manual to be published on how to do this type of home rental properly, these owners should write it! Right down to all the lobster cracking and poking tools, for the obligatory and magnificent lobster boil we had on Mother’s Day, the Tidnish Pearl surprised and delighted us all.

Great house!
We really enjoyed our stay at The Tidnish Pearl. We were charmed by the extras that we discovered on our arrival: fresh flowers, homemade bread and jam, a fruit bowl and milk and cream in the fridge. There was every imaginable kitchen appliance and utensil. The house was very clean and well kept. We enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch, the dining table and BBQ on the back deck and the back lawn for games and fire pit. Lots of information about local sites and activities. We got great lobsters at Chase Lobster Pound. We were a group of 6 adults but the house would not feel crowded with a slightly bigger group. A printed copy of 'What goes Where' for garbage, recycling and composting would have been helpful. We would stay at this house again.

A lovely home capturing the history of Tidnish
My family enjoyed the spaciousness and charm of the Tidnish Pearl. It was decorated thoughtfully with touches from pre-1900 to modern. It was lovely to be greeted with a basket of locally baked bread and local wine - both enjoyed. The Pearl has a formal sitting area with lots of room - enjoyable for an afternoon read on the few days it rained. I think the feature most enjoyed was the covered porch and rocking chairs - a wonderful spot for morning coffees. The grounds were well manicured and became the location of choice for a family picture shoot. All in all a lovely stay

After our long days of outtings it was so nice to go back to our "home". This is a perfect family house however I kept my children away from the white couches and white dining room chairs. The house is much larger than the pictures depict. The bedrooms are gorgeous, I felt them to be hotel quality.
