Great location and nice room up a very narrow staircase. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. Some noise from sorority house nearby on Friday night but not enough to complain about.

Loved our room and the great location. The stairs to the higher floors were challenging, small and steep, but the handrails made it workable. Pleasant staff, though there is no one on site 24 hours.

Boutique hotel with just 8 rooms in 2 walk- up buildings (no elevator). Had top floor room that was quiet and comfy. Breakfast is great. Loved it.

Nice place in central Leiden - recommended.
It was a very easy stay - there was a no-contact check-in. No problems at all. The room was comfortable and cozy and very well located. Nice restaurants right across the street. Very close to central station. There was a minor problem with the bedding, but the hotel discounted my stay in compensation and it was very fair. The value was good and I would return there again.

The room itself was clean and well appointed once the two sets of steep spiral stairs had been negotiated. We gained the very distinct impression the hotel was run solely from a business view point. The proprietor gave no indication of wishing to engage with guests. Breakfast exactly the same each day to such an extent that having chosen coffee and earl grey tea to drink on the first morning, that was what was automatically supplied on the following two mornings without inquiry. In short the choice at breakfast was take it or leave it.

I loved the location. Nestled beside Pieterskerk and amongst some fine local restaurants. Also close to the main canal and the university.

Nice hotel in a very good location convenient for the station, restaurants and tourist attractions. As other reviews have stated the stairs are a bit awkward (but not unusually so for this type of property). Because of the size of the room (8, on the second floor) the bed was a bit awkward to get in and out of as it is enclosed on three sides (but comfortable once in).

Perfect place for a short stay in Leiden!
Loved my stay at Ex Libris! Amazing location - right in the middle of all of the Pilgrim Fathers historical sites. My room was very cozy and immaculately clean.

Very nicely remodeled and right in the center of town. We were on the first floor, right on the street--very Dutch, but not very me. Otherwise, excellent.

Great Little Boutique Hotel
Very pretty, well-put together little hotel in a side street in Leiden (which is an awesome town, btw). Host was friendly, hotel had everything you needed, comfy bed, nice shower, coffee/tea in room, nice linens, spotlessly clean, etc. The stairs are steep and there's no elevator, but that's just the Netherlands.

Brilliant hotel and excellent rooms
The rooms were of very high quality and had everything we required. The bathroom was excellent with very high quality fittings throughout. There was Netflix and a range of entertainment options. The only criticism would be that stairs up were very steep and may be unsuitable for some.

Ex Libre is a gem, the rooms are wonderful and the owners are very helpful. We will come back to Ex Libre again.

We had a lovely stay. The room was elegant and adorable, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the area was delightful and perfectly located. We were quite impressed with the thoughtfully selected collection of wines available in the room, along with an impressive assortment of chocolates. The stairs are quite steep and narrow, but didn't bother us a bit. The owners were so lovely and friendly. They helped us with our bags up and down the stairs, made us a delicious breakfast, and filled our water bottles with ice water while we were waiting for our Uber.

Very cosy hotel, warm and friendly staff
This is a very nice and cosy little hotel in one of the side streets of Leiden, with only a few rooms. The owner was very welcoming when I arrived, and prepared a delicious breakfast next morning. The room was quite spacious, with everything you need, very clean, with a good bathroom, and fast wireless. I only stayed one night, but hope to come back another time.

Wonderful place that made Leiden Pleasant
Great host, makes great breakfast, and he was hospitable and accommodating. Definitely recommend staying here. Had a homely feel to it. Would stay here again.

Kleinschalig hotel in de binnenstad. Netjes en schoon. Ontbijt was oké. Een minpunt, het hotel is vreselijk gehorig. Wij konden de buren letterlijk verstaan via de ventilatie kanalen. Dat vond ik heel erg hinderlijk. De automatische deurdrangers zijn overbodig in zo’n klein hotel. Dat zou heel wat geluidsoverlast verminderen.

Dejligt lille hotel beliggende i historisk bydel
Glimrende lille hotel beliggende i den historiske del af Leiden. Værelserne var meget smagfuldt indrettet og alt meget rent. Beliggenheden er i top hvis man er turist. Trappen til de værelser vi boede I var meget smal og stejl, så det kan være en hindring.
