Amazing place to stay. Extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed here on route home from our holiday in Italy. David, the owner took great care of us and treated us royally. We had two fantastic evening meals with the other guests, all seated round one great big table. Breakfast with fresh croissants and home made jams. Very well worth every penny. Walk around the area are very interesting with local wetlands.
We stayed here one night and we were made very welcome by owner David ,if you are looking for a corporate type of room with no character then go to another hotel. If your looking for something different full of charm and history then this is the place for you. On arrival we were shown to our room which was like stepping ack in time with lovely bathroom. David invited us to pre dinner drinks in the library with little nibbles which was very nice , this gave us a chance to meet the rest of the guests. Later after getting to know people we all when into the beautiful large dining room. We all sat at one very large table and enjoyed a lovely set menu meal after a very enjoyable and different evening we went to bed 11-30. Next morning had very nice breakfast before sadly leaving this lovely experience. We returned the following week on our homeward trip and had another great night. Thanks David and staff we will return. Carl& Lynda
For those desiring to stay and experience an authentic French Lorraine farm chateau this is your place! Dinner was elegantly served in the 18th century grand dining room and featured several courses accompanied with charm and engaging conversation with our charming French host and Belgium bird watching guests. The chateau is within an hour of Nancy and nestled among a series of small villages and ponds.
Outstanding!!!!!!! We had a fantastic time at Chateau d'Alteville!!! David is an amazing host, his service is beyond any expectations! We are looking forward to visit the chateau again!!!
This stay was more akin to being guests in a country house. David the owner greeted and treated us a friends, oh the art of making your guests feel special. He was a genuine delight and sat at the dinner table with the total of 6 guests after cooking the 5 course dinner, delicious by the way and I would recommend the dinner option rather than other places on offer in the nearby town. We loved the Chateau but if shiny, glossy marble and chrome are your bag you will be challenged by the 17th C antiques, foxed mirrors and worn books in the library. The house guests all mixed well in conversation, the other 2 couples having stayed on previous occasions.
Exceptionally warm welcome in a lovely chateau. Beautiful lake and gardens. Excellent dinner with outstanding wine enjoyed with other guests from various parts of Europe. Lorraine is an interesting part of France and good stop off for venturing further east into Europe. This is also a working farm which adds to its charm.

Lovely folks
David and family make a real effort to welcome you. Their place is fabulous with a real sense of history and a particular ambience, but might not be for those whose idea of heaven is a chain hotel brand. Dinner was great with David gathering all the guests in the drawing room for aperitif before enjoying a genuine local food experience.
It was everything that the reviews had led me to expect - a house of character in a very quiet rural location, with charming period rooms, and a welcoming host who was happy to share his local knowledge; he lent us a walking map so that we could enjoy a day's leisure in the surrounding countryside. The evening meal was very convivial and the whole experience of the stay was very relaxing
