Charming
Overall a charming and very welcoming little hotel. The breakfast was a simple but adequate one. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room was a bit unusual. Wi-Fi was very poor. Shower room was basic. That’s the main negatives dealt with. Overall, it’s a beautiful old building which is perfectly situated right in the middle of Ortigia. Everything is within easy walking distance (if you don’t lose your bearings!!) and given its rating as a three star hotel, it’s fair value for money. I expect we will return to Ortigia sometime and would be quite happy to make Hotel Gargallo our base once again.

Great location in the middle of Ortigia Island, but a little hard to find at first because the streets are confusing. You can drive right up to the entrance and drop your bags, even though it doesn’t look like a real street, then park in the lot for 15 euros per 24 hours. The ticket machine is old and hard to figure out….exact amount in cash only! The hotel staff is very nice, friendly, and helpful. Our superior room was on the ground floor, clean, and fairly spacious. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night. Furniture is a little run down and probably should be replaced, or is just the end of the season? Bath towels are great. Breakfast was typical with lots of choices, with great espresso made to order. Hard boiled eggs should have been fresher. We recommend this hotel.

The location was very good and the staff was helpful. Our ground-floor room had a nice little courtyard. Unfortunately, the shower was very slippery and had mold in the grout. I don't think the floors were swept while we were there; probably something that should be done when guests are out walking the town every day. We didn't get to see the rooms in the main part of the hotel, so can't comment on them.

It was perfect for us. We were close to the beach and they had a free shuttle to the Valley of the Temples. The parking was very easy also.

Located in a very good position you can walk easily all around Ortigia. The staff is wonderful, all the ladies are kind and helpful 😊 Breakfast is rich with a few Sicilian products too. The rooms are clean and spacious in a perfect Italian style! I will definitely come back.

A very special visit
A great place for seeing Syracuse, lovely room, spotlessly clean, lovely people and service. The breakfast was more than adequate, the food in the restaurant was exceptional. Only problem was parking the car but that is not the hotels fault. I would recommend the hotel and location to anyone

Pleasant stay
The first room we were put in had a strange smell coming from he bathroom, not pleasant at all but we don’t like complaining so I shut the bathroom door and we headed out to explore. On return the bathroom door seemed to be stuck and neither of us or the receptionist could open it so they moved us into another room which was lovely and minus the smell, thank goodness. Only a one night stay and managed to park in a free parking spot not too far away so overall a very pleasant stay.

Excellent all round.
Really enjoyed this hotel. Beautiful building full of character and original features but plenty of modern amenities too. Excellent continental breakfast served by the restaurant. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Room was a good size,perfectly clean and lots of natural light with a generous en suite bathroom. Situated in the heart of Siracusas Ortigia but off the noisy main streets. Would definitely stay here again .

Wonderful Period Hotel in the Centre of Ortigia
A pleasant hotel in Central Ortigia. The building was a typical 17th Century house with wonderful high ceilings and the room I stayed in had two stunning balconies. The hotel seemed to have been recently renovat0ed and was in very good condition. The lady at reception recommended three restaurants which I tried and all were excellent. I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Gargallo and I will certainly be returning.

Great little hotel centrally located on Ortigia
Super service from the friendly, helpful, staff throughout our 5 night stay . Clean modern facilities and excellent cold buffet breakfast included ( cold meats and cheeses , pastries and bread , cereal, fresh fruit , coffee, tea and juice ) . Perfect central location on Ortigia island for all attractions in Syracuse . Walls between rooms quite thin and internal noise does travel - but not unduly disturbing ( we had a quiet back of hotel 1st floor room looking onto a courtyard ). All in all would recommend as good value for its 3 star rating.

A B&B in a good location in the old town. Finding it by car was tricky and when we got there, they had one parking space which we were fortunately able to take. The room we had, 205, was smaller compared to the others that we glanced at when they were cleaning, but sufficed. It was clean, but the shower in the bathroom leaked onto the floor, and the shower head has seen better days. Free wifi is a plus, though slow, and the walls were thin such that we heard the TV from the next room, though not too bad as it was switched off before we went to bed. Breakfast buffet was smaller, but again, sufficed.

A very tiny but nice room in syracusa.
We spent only one night, but we appreciated this place : nice hotel, very good and smiling service. Central in syracusa. Only weak points : a quite bad breakfast, and we got a tiny room (could barely turn around the bed). For one night, was ok. It seems the other rooms are quite bigger...

The Gargallo is located right in the middle of Ortegia Island, the best place to stay in Siricusa from a tourist's perspective. You can walk anywhere in this area and it is very asmospheric, lots of restaurants etc. I went to an outstanding performance at the puppet theater and it was literally less than a 5 minute walk. That said, the hotel is certainly not luxurious, no elevator and no hot water the second day I was there. I complained about it to the very nice lady attending the breakfast service, literally the only person around from the staff. She made some calls and told me it would be fixed right away. A few minutes later whenI went to take a shower it was better but certainly not much more than warm. However you can't beat the price and the location!

We stayed at the Hotel Gargallo for four days while visiting Sicily and wish we had more time there. The staff was amazing- warm, helpful, kind, and extremely diligent. Ortigia itself is a delight- safe, clean, welcoming; reminds us of Venice without the canals. If you are driving , park your car in the square where an elderly guy will watch it for two euros a day. Don't miss the daily market. Lunch is a good bet there at one of the stores which remain open until two. Enjoy!

Can't Beat the Service
The women who were at the reception desk couldn't have been more cheerful or helpful. It was obvious they liked their work and the people who stayed at the hotel. The hotel is piccolo, but charming, clean and conveniently located to the rest of Ortigia.

Gargallo Hotel
Right from the beginning the receptionist made it a lovely stay for our family. Friendly and informative and concerned to ensure our car was parked in a good spot. The hotel is beautifully located - although not on the waterfront. The family room made it economical for us and we had enough space to move. On the down side the breakfast was ordinary and the shower head broken (you had to hold it). We couldn't find many accommodation options on Ortygia when we booked but this hotel turned out to be good.

Sono rimasta alquanto delusa dell'hotel: un palazzo antico a mio avviso non significa odore di muffa da non poter dormire, scarsa pulizia e mancanza di attenzione dei particolari. Colazione deludente ,non si può servire la stessa torta alla panna per 3 giorni.Valentina e Denise sono gentili , disponibili, ma forse è la gestione ( non da parte loro ) che va rivista, bisogna investire qualcosa e migliorare. In un hotel non esiste che la reception chiude alle 19, allora chiamiamolo b&b e abbassiamo i prezzi.Non c'è un buon rapporto qualità-prezzo,l'unica cosa positiva è la posizione.Lo posso consigliare solo per questo ,per il resto assolutamente no

Struttura bellissima, ben tenuta e pulizia impeccabile. Le camere sono silenziose e spaziose e piene di comfort. Il personale è gentilissimo (in particolare Maria Teresa che ci ha accolti in maniera strepitosa). Unica pecca (non imputabile all'hotel ma comunque da segnalare) è il servizio di car valet che è comodissimo ma necessita di precisione al momento check out soprattutto se si ha fretta nel partire. Nel complesso la struttura è perfetta in tutto (pulizia,personale,colazione e soprattutto posizione). Grazie di tutto da Roberto e Ornella

Tutto bellissimo , la location molto carina e confortevole , in centro a due passi dalla bellissima piazza del Duomo . Un ringraziamento ad Anna che si occupa dell'accoglienza in questa struttura . Io e mia moglie abbiamo pernottato una notte in questa splendida struttura. Si trova al centro di Ortigia, comodissimo per spostamenti a piedi. Il parcheggio non è in loco. La camera pulitissima, personale gentilissimo e disponibile. Ci siamo trovati veramente bene. La signora della reception ci ha coccolato!! Ci torneremo, lo consiglio!!!
