We arrived on a cold/rainy day and were welcomed by the owner who was very friendly. Easy to check in. The keys are old style castle-door keys. Very comfortable room and it was clean. The breakfast was very good, as well. Only a short drive to Rothenberg (our destination) and this was a good choice. Parking is tight, but we got in.

Excellent place to stay if visiting Rothenberg.They even found a doctor to visit when I was suddenly taken ill.The staff could not have been more helpful.

Close to Rothenberg w/o the high prices.
Excellent stay! The owners were great hosts, breakfast was nice on the outdoor patio with the smell of fresh flowers and a gentle breeze.

Get away from the crowd
Family run gasthof in a quiet small town five miles from the tourist destination of Rothenburg. Friendly, good food, accessible by train. Lunch only on weekends.

It was a very pleasant stay in a nice, family-owned hotel. They have a good kitchen for both dinner and breakfast meals. It was a bargain, enjoyable overnight.

Nice hotel close to Rothenberg.
We were there with another couple and everyone enjoyed our stay. The dining room menu was large and the food was outstanding. You do have to be capable of climbing one flight of stairs. Bathrooms were up to date.

We Loved Gasthof zum Schwan - Guest House!
This was our first trip to Europe so we didn't know what to expect. I've had more than my share of snooty "5 Star" hotels so this was such a pleasant change. Very Comfortable in a wonderful small village. No airs about anything - Comfortable, clean room Fantastic Breakfast buffet Quaint Country Guest House Delicious Menu in the Restaurant Schaumann family was great! Dad is the chef, I wanted to bring him home with us. Mother was in the hospital while we were there - Hope she's doing OK. Daughter Miss Nina was ever so pleasant and helpful. She spent a year working in Birmingham, AL honing her guest service and English skills and that is very evident in her helpfulness and her mastery of the English language. I would go back again tomorrow!

Worth it!
the owners of the hotel are really nice and really friendly. The room is clean and comfortable. Some said the room is stuffy but I found totally okay with the window opened.

Underwhelming hotel
Inexpensive hotel but you get what you pay. Hotel is located in rural town 10 km from Rottenburg de Tauber. Middle of no where. Very Spartan and small rooms. Didn't expect air conditioning but no fan so the room was very hot in summer heat. Had to open windows but let in mosquitos that made it nearly impossible to sleep. I guess it would be fine if it was not in summer.

Hotel was fine although some distance from Rothenb
The room was small but ok,with a small bathroom. We did not find the host overfriendly or very helpful, she showed us our room, gave me the key and left. I had to call her back to ask what time and where is breakfast, she answered quickly and left. We had found most german hosts very helpful and friendly until we arrived here, I cannot say she was rude but definitely did not feel too welcome or did not feel we could ask any questions about where to go locally etc. I wished we had stayed closer to Rothenburg also, we were in a small village with not a lot to offer. There was not enough onsite parkingeither and it would have been nice if we were told of the places to park nearby, as not reading or understanfing german it is hard to know if we can park in the streets if you are not a resident. Breakfast was fine

Typical German Gasthof, we enjoy our stay very much and they were very helpful in finding places to visit and experience. Rothendorf was very close and it was a great place to visit. They had a an excellent breakfast and they hotel owners were very friendly.

Nice place to stay
The price was good. It included breakfast which was also very good. It is located about a 5 minute drive from Rothenburg o. d. Tauber. You need a car to see the sights.

Great place, Excellent Food!
Very nice place, in a quiet little town very close to Rothenburg, 10 minutes by car. The room was very nice, simple, comfortable. The only negative was the shower took a while to get hot water. Now the best part, The food! We ate well all across Germany from Munich to Freiburg, etc. but this little hotel had the best food! We ate 3 nights dinner and 3 breakfasts here and i can't say enough about how great the food was. Excellent!

Cozy little country inn with excellent food and nice, basic rooms. The inn is located a close drive from Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Ansbach.

It is located just 7 km north east of Rothenburg. Rothenburg was a site seeing destination for us. We stayed 2 nights and were awoken each night be late arriving guests partly due to the lack of insulation. One room could easily hear the next room's occupants. Although the hotel was being painted, there was little interference.

The real Germany
This quaint, lovely Gasthaus resides on the outskirts of Rothenburg. After "touristy" Rothenburg, we came back to the hotel and it is simply a winner. Gabby and her husband Eugen are wonderfully delightful people. Eugen is certainly one of the best chefs that we had in Europe - no kidding aside, this was from 8 people who went as a group. Highly under-rated and highly recommended spot...you won't be disappointed if you stay here.

It would be worth to choose if you are traveling by car and those hotels in central Rothenburg are all too expensive. It's not a cheap business hotel, though.Room was clean and well-maintained so cozy enough. We stayed one night in a triple room, but we wished to stay one more night if we had time.

Perfect gasthaus. 5+ minutes drive outside Rothenburg. Quiet little village. Great hosts. Good food, generous breakfast. Could not fault. Highly recommend.

disappointed in Zum Schwan
No warm/hot water in bath or shower morning or night. Shower stahl had cold air blowing in it. Bed was hard as a rock. Breakfast was not to typical German standards: day old brotchen(rubbery and stale), 1 slice liverwurst/person, 2 slices cheese/person, old tasting coffee milk, sour (fermented?) orange juice; no fruit, no yogurt, no egg, nothing else. We were only people in the hotel for 2 nights/2 mornings, and obviously the staff wasn't willing to "open" the hotel for us with hot water or fresh food. We paid way too much for the quality of this hotel. Extremely disappointed in our stay and would not recommend Zum Schwan to anyone.

A Must Stay
This was a very quiet and peaceful place to stay. The host of the house was fantastic. Very comfortable place to sleep. Would highly recommend for a short or long stay.

Stayed for 1 night in July 2012. PROS: Excellent value, 10 mins drive to the old town, very clean, decent size room and bathroom, nice little restaurant with meals prepared by the owners if you want to eat there, good breakfast, easy parking, owners speak enough English to answer tourists' questions. CONS: no air con but we were ok with just leaving the window open, a little dated but I guess they are going for a German cottage feel. Would use again.

Adequate hotel in quiet setting
Hotel is located about 5 km from Rothenburg. This was not a problem, since we had a car. Breakfast was typical German B&B fare. Parking is easy. Room nice size, but bath is small but adequate. Hotel does not have an elevator, but also does not have many steps.

The Swan Guest House - Gasthof zum Schwan
A cracking little guest house, excellent value for money. Good food, and friendly and accomodating staff who provided a meal despite our arrival at the restaurant closing time. Very clean. Highly recommended, will use again when in the area.

Nice hotel, although a bit away from Rothenburg ob der Tauber. That being said, it is refreshingly non-touristy, unlike Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The breakfast spread was great!
