Lake Superior Retreat

Our Lake Superior Retreat is a 3,300 sq ft log home on Lake Superior nestled on 4.75 acres of wooded land. We prefer to keep our landscape natural and rustic. We like the flora which is indigenous to the area. Wild lupine, ferns, thimbleberry, wild raspberries, etc. No grass, except for natural grasses. The result is our yard is filled with lovely butterflies.
There is plenty of parking space in the driveway. A path going down to the lake and firepit.
The house has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bath, 2 wood burning fireplaces, large deck facing Lake Superior. Views of the lake from every room. Warm rustic Norwegian planking on the interior walls, a spacious great room with an expansive field stone fireplace, a large foyer, a well appointed kitchen, and dining room on the main floor.
The top floor has a loft bedroom overlooking the great room with a king size bed, as well as an adjacent master bedroom and bath.
The lower level has 2 bedrooms, TV room with wood burning fireplace, an air hockey table, a laundry room, all again with with the interior walls in Norwegian planking.

Wonderful Home in the woods
My family loved the house and the location on Lake Superior. The home was very clean, beautifully decorated, with lots of room for 12 people (8 adults and four kids). The home was well supplied with all the necessary things we needed. We enjoyed our stay very much and would come back again.

Lovely Lodge
Three generations of our family spent a week at this "Lake Superior Retreat". It was the perfect house for us. The house is a miniature of a National Park lodge with three levels of wood planking on the walls, soaring great room, wood beams, open floor plan, and a well equipped and roomy kitchen and dining area. The three floors with two bedrooms and a family room on the lower level allowed the younger family members a place to "hang out". The large dining room table was a perfect size for all of us to gather for dinner and games. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were furnished with plenty of hot water and towels. The large deck and two tables provided us with a nice outdoor dining space. We used the clean gas grill to prepare some of our meals. Communication with Dawn (the host) was prompt and easy. The only down side was limited useable shore line. There are, however, many state parks close by for hiking and useable shoreline. I'd definitely recommend this rental and will likely stay here again.

Perfect Lake Superior Retreat
We had the most lovely stay at this property. Communication with Dawn was easy, check in was flawless, and the place looked immaculate upon arrival. The place offered the solitude we were seeking. The beach area was enjoyable for resting, campfires, and climbing on the rocks. The home was spacious and beautifully kept. We loved all of the views. Especially from the master bedroom/balcony and from the very large deck. We have kids of all ages and each of them loved it. The air hockey table and huge TV gave us a break in the evening. Thank you for everything!

Amazing property for secluded vacation
Gorgeous property overall and everything was as expected. Easy checkin with clear expectations for the stay and checkout. Everything worked great. Huge kitchen and dining area stocked with everything you need. The location is great in the middle of 3 state parks and close to two harbors. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again in a heartbeat

Log cabin luxury on the lake
We had both animal (bear and turkey) and ship sightings. Each night, we fell asleep to the lapping waves and woke to the sunshine and birds singing. It was a wonderful vacation!

Breathtaking!
Absolutely incredible property, a true up north sanctuary! The space was perfect for our group. The kids (tweens and teens) had a blast with the air hockey table, playing along the rocks and IN the lake. Perfectly situated between Duluth and Grand Marais, so much to do and see. Highly recommend... both the space and the host were wonderful!

Idyllic and glorious get-away
My family and I had the best weekend at this stunning home on Lake Superior. The pictures do not do it justice. It is very spacious and laid out well - you do not feel on top of each other at all. It was clean, and the kitchen was extremely well-stocked (we did a lot of cooking and baking while there and did not lack for anything). The owner was prompt with communications and there simply was not a glitch our entire stay. We definitely hope to come back to this impressive and tranquil location!

The home is beautiful! The amenities are all very nice. It is spacious for a larger group of people. The location is very convenient to both northern and southern north shore. It is right on the lake with a gorgeous view from every room. There is easy access to the shoreline, also. My children are in their 20's and they loved all of it. I hope to return.

Perfect getaway
I rented the cabin for my husband and his friends for his 50 birthday. It was perfect! The cabin itself is beautiful and well stocked with anything you might need. There was plenty of firewood for use. The location is perfect if you like being away from it all, but close enough to places to eat as well. If you are into mountain biking there is a nice trail across the main road by the house. It was well maintained and lots of fun. The beds were comfy, house was clean. The guys took two fishing excursions nearby and caught their dinner almost every night they was there. Dawn was absolutely amazing to work with. She is so sweet. If you are lucky enough to come across her listing just go ahead and rent this place. You won’t regret it!

Amazing!!
We celebrated our 40th anniversary with our children and grandchildren at the house. We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Everything was so clean and so perfect. We had everything we needed and more. We all agreed it was a convenient area in proximity to sites we wanted to go to visit. We loved having a fire near by the lake. The deck is amazing for coffee in the morning and perfect for dinner in evening. Dawn was so accommodating and we will definitely stay again! This house (log and stone) was beautifully designed and superbly constructed, right on Lake Superior. Huge deck with one large table and chairs and one small table and chairs, plus large propane grill. Two stone fireplaces. Path down to the lake. Firewood provided. Everything (except one warped frying pan) in excellent working order. The host (Dawn) is/was most gracious and kind, forgiving some breakage by one of our party. Frankly, I do not think there is a finer house (and host) on the North Shore. Everyone of our party praised this place. Absolutely recommended.
