Forced to book another hotel
We booked more than three weeks in advance through expedia and wrote to the hotel to ask about parking and confirm our booking. We received a reply confirming the exact dates with the information we had requested, but to our surprise, when we arrived at the hotel the receptionist almost didn't even let us in, saying that he had no pending reservations for the day. We showed our confirmation but he said the system did not show our reservation at all, that he did not have availability. It was 9:30 pm, we had just driven for an hour, traveled by plane, etc... We showed him the email we received from the hotel with the confirmation. He had no intentions of helping us or even investigating the issue and we basically forced him to contact the reservation manager who had sent us the email. He said the only room he had available was a shared bathroom and that they would change room the following day. The room was a tiny cube, our bags almost didn't fit, and the bathroom had hairs on the floor, very disgusting. As we came here for comfort, we decided to ask around at other hotels to find a better option and we did, so we came back for our bags. When we arrived the receptionist told us that he did have our room ready and that they could give it to us right away, we found it odd that 40 minutes before he had said he had no rooms... so we left. He became very altered and rude, accusing us of bad intentions, saying he did not want guests like us, basically shutting the door on our face

Hotel- very basic amenities
The staff was OK but the hotel 's amenities, decor, etc. are all extremely basic. The bed was uncomfortable with a bare bones mattress (no spring mattress, this was an old-school strip of materials, that's it) and creaked all the time. There's an analog TV with no remote and no cable. (the TV reception seemed as if there was no antenna attached even). There is no phone. But, perhaps this is all one must expect at the low price charged. We booked this hotel as nothing else was available and I would not choose to go back here again.

Overpriced but Good Location
We stayed around new years and, thus, the room rate was probably a bit higher than normal (just over $100 USD per night). Though the room was large (2 bedrooms with a kitchen) the room was not at all comfortable. The bathroom was a bit of a mess with mold growing on the wall in the shower. The location, however, is very good, as it is very close to some of the better restaurants and night life in San Cristobal. If I were to do it again, I would have stayed further north in the city.

Friendly, comfortable and well located
Great location a few steps from Andador Turístico and walkable from the bus terminal. I asked for a quiet room and had one right at the back. A bit dark but otherwise perfect and spacious. I could check in early which was great.

I arrived late and the place was locked up..however, they did not charge me for that missed night..so I was grateful for that...the room was stuffy..no fan..the windows opened on the public corridor..so not feasible to open them..staff were friendly I would recommend this hotel..if they would provide a chair and a fan...

Basic, but good
It was very basic, but nicely decorated and clean. Our room had three original paintings and a few other nice touches. But the bathroom was small and dingy. You could use an old laptop in the lobby. It was a 5-10-minute walk to the Zocalo, yet on a quieter street. The owners/staff were always eager to help us. One of them (Francesca) spoke English really well, the others not so much, but we more than managed.

Decent option for modest traveler
This hotel worked for me. There is no common area where i would want to be outside of my room, and i spent all time exploring the city anyway. The room was rather big and comfortable. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes everywhere in the city for any taste and budget. If you sit outside, you will be disturbed by local vendors and children. You may want, however, to buy a big warm scarf from an indigenous woman that will save you on chilly evening. Taxis are everywhere all the time, but walking is so much more fun, and the distances are not that long. I would suggest to check/negotiate the price with the hotel's owner (I and other visitors staying there at the same time paid different prices.)

Lovely hotel in excellent neighborhood
Posada Media Luna is in a perfect location, on a quiet street just a half-block away from the centro's pedestrian-only street, with so many restaurants and shops. The owners are fabulous and they are very pet-friendly. We travel with our dog and it's hard to find hotels that accept them, and here they are welcomed. They have a nice kitchen as well to serve breakfast, and where we were able to store our cold items. The price is very reasonable for such a tourist destination, a truly beautiful city. The room was modest but comfortable and very clean. We'd definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it to our friends and fellow travelers.

Very good overall. I did not have breakfast there as I did not know in advance what I wanted and there was a chocolate shop/cafe around the corner with the best chocolate to drink or eat made from local cocao beans, or in another cafe, French style crepes and american coffee (also home grown) for about 35 pesos (£1.50) and I never failed to get my vitamines C from freshly squeezed juices genarally from someone on a street corner. The hotel also has a laundry service: 1.5 kg for £1! San Cristobal de las Casas is a small town with a cosmopolitain culture well worth a stop over.

Excellent experience here.
My only complaint: one of the two beds in our room was rather hard. Aside from that, a cozy, well-located hotel with helpful staff.

A very good budget hotel
The hotel has a great location, which made it easy for us to walk to when we got off our shuttle. The hotel, while not being fancy, has it's charm. The price was very reasonable, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Nice extras like internet too. I would certainly return if in the area. Recommended.

Posada la Media Luna San Cristobal Mexico
Great location and lovely staff; like most hotels in Mexico, no bath; small rooms, but functional and clean and adequate beds. Conveniences like internet access, laundry service, and tour arrangements. However, the horse-back riding tour was a disappointment. They guides only guided the horses, with no dialogue with the travellers, and the horses were extremely poorly treated. It was heart-breaking.

Basic and clean.
Posada La Media Luna is conveniently located close to the city center (zocalo) of San Cristobal de Las Casas and Calle Miguel Hidalgo, yet situated on a quiet street away from the traffic noises. There is a small courtyard with lots of skylight in the middle, surrounded by the guestrooms, which means that if there is noise in the courtyard, it can be heard from the rooms although it wasn't too much of a problem for us. The rooms are simple and clean, although the mattress is hard and creaky, and the water pressure of the shower is weak. The staff are friendly and attentive. Overall, it was good value for money.

Media Luna is a comfortable place to stay at a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and helpful (spanish only) and the location is convenient. Experienced travelers will find this a good choice in San Cristobal.

Inexpensive Lodging
We recently stayed 4 days at Posada Media Luna in San Cristobal de Las Casas. While it is located in walking distance of everything one would want to see San Cristobal, it was a very tranquil stay. We walked everywhere and met some lovely people who had "accidentally" found Posada Media Luna. We met each other in the main lobby using the internet connection. You will not find all of the amenities found in a five star hotel, but if you are looking for cleanliness, friendliness, quiet, and safe, then Posada Media Luna is a place to check into.

Lovely small and friendly hotel
Lovely small and friendly hotel. The room they first gave us was on the ground floor, but I was concerned about noise and light as it looks onto the central communal area, and so they changed our room with no problems to one on the first floor. That room was lovely, with art deco furiture and a cosy homely feel. (However I needn't have worried about the noise and light - the lights were turned off at 11pm and there was very little noise from other guests). The hotel is nicely located on the edge of the centre if the city, very easy to walk everywhere. It's clean, has free internet and is great value. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent Value for Money
We stayed in room 4 and found it to be comfortable, clean and excellent value for money. It was close to the heart of the city, and the staff were really friendly. The only thing that would make this hotel slightly better would be a solid shower screen in the bathrooms as the bathroom floor became very wet with each shower. Would highly recommend this hotel.
