Spacious for solo traveler, but not very clean
Stayed in Studio with Sauna. The room was spacious enough for solo traveler, and a small kitchen was available which was good. Sauna worked well. But the building was quite old, and the bedroom was a bit cold when sleeping. Looked not very clean, and there was some uncomfortable smell at shower room.

Hi, Rooms are being cleaned every other day. At this point in time where there is Corona virus risk everywhere, this is not acceptable.Cleanliness should be key Also hotel was full of Japanese people where the corona case is also outbroken in that country. I believe they do not care about the virus anymore. Apart from these, there were hardly any utensils to hold even bread. Again very bad judgement when everyone is extremely sensitive.

Our staff has always high standards with hygiene and if something ends, as example the utensils to hold bread, they will bring more as soon as possible. Nice to stay, good location, got bus from Ivalo airport to the hotel, but have to notice about the bus time schedule, if u miss the bus then taxi will be around 60euro to the hotel. Breakfast was very nice!!! Walking distance to the nearest supermarket and souvenir shop

The standard room we stayed in was very comfortable and provided all we needed, We had to use the public sauna. It was very frustrating that it was separate times for men and women, it was a long walk outside to go to the other sauna. It would have been good to have it mixed for at least a couple of hours per day.

We stayed at AHMA, the premise for standard rooms. It was old and tired looking. The room was small, but comfortable. And there is a common electric sauna for hotel guests with segregated timings for males and females. Breakfast was average - the usual spread you get in most lodgings in Lapland

Weeks stay aurora hunting
Spent a week at the hotel hoping to see some aurora, bit of low level activity but lots more low cloud (sees to be a common issue). Nice room and comfortable bed (2 singles), TV which had BBC News 24 on Ch 9, kettle and a good supply of tea, coffee and chocolate. Good WiFi in the room. Great shower and I do like a good shower :-) Despite the fact that it was -25c and colder during my stay the room was always comfortable. Don't make the same mistake as me I carted all my baggage into reception, checked in and then had to cart it all back out as I was staying in a separate building 150M away :-) The breakfast restaurant area is large with good breakfast and is in the same building as reception. The surrounding area has plenty of good walks through the forests and cross country loops

Excellent customer service and great stay
Excellent customer service from Niina who helped my mum get her hat back after she left it on the coach. Hotel is conveniently located in Saariselkä with buses from Kakslauttanen stopping directly outside the hotel. Rooms were clean and ours had the in-room sauna which was easy to use and just wonderful. Room also had in room clothes drier. Breakfast had a good spread and very polite. Would recommend and would stay again.

Stayed one night while on our Scandinavian road trip and booked the upgraded room with breakfast. The room was very nice with a sauna and balcony, and the buffet breakfast was also very good.

Excellent sauna in room, lots of facilities
Enjoyed our stay, hotel had table tennis, pool table, darts and a nice bar which kept us entertained for the days that we were there. Food at the restaurant was delicious as well, and it really helped that the bus to the ski resort, along with the bus to Rovaniemi, could be accessed on the road outside the hotel reception.

The Shining meets dorm room.
I didn't read reviews since I was pretty much over travel research and just wanted an affordable option with good overall rating. The standard room I booked was apparently $30 less than the rooms in the really nice building, which is modern and beautiful with balcony and private saunas. What we got was a deserted building that was a mix of The Shining and a dorm room. Pros: Very clean and the beds were comfortable, and I liked that you could open part of the window to cool the room off (Finns seem to like hotel rooms HOT). Cons: The shower was so small that my fiancé had shower with the door open, getting everything wet. Not a single other person in the building, which was kinda creepy. I feel bad that housekeeping has to journey to the old building for just one room, and honestly am kinda surprised they didn't offer upgrade for additional fee at check in. Also, this isn't uncommon in the area, but there were two twin beds rather than a double or queen, even in the new building. Next time I would pay extra to be in the nice building.

We booked because the rooms looked modern and fresh in the pictures. There was a photo of a dated and less enticing room but we thought odds were we'd get a good one. Wrong! We got the worst room, overlooking the car park and with really dated decor.

Fun place!
Lovely place. We had the room with sauna and it was everything!! It was a quiet season but the service was friendly and the breakfast was fairly good. The bed was not great and we ended up with two single beds which seemed to be a theme all throughout Finland in general. I suppose couples don't generally sleep together? We were able to push the beds together anyway. The town was cute and had enough shops to keep us entertained between northern lights hunting.

Stayed for one night after landing in Finland. Great transport as coaches stopped right in front of main reception. Chose a room with sauna which worked well. Some buildings had no lifts so had to carry big suitcases on stairs. Short walk to national park and main street with restaurants. Nice hotel overall

Hotel is inconvenient. It is composed of several building. Some buildings are very far from the parking and the office building where you check in and eat the breakfast. When I entered the room, I found a lots of hair under the pillow. The breakfast is poor and provided only in the office building. It said free wifi but actaually only in the office building. If you need in room, you will be offerred the room in the new building which cost extra 30 euro per night.

Thought the hotel was good. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was there. Food in the restaurant was good. You could pay more for posher trimmings, but our standard room had everything we wanted. Comfy beds and a good hot shower. Great location near ski hire shops and the start of the cross county ski trails. If you want a week of cross country skiing then this hotel in saariselka is just right, but if you want to sun bathe on the beach it's probably not the one for you.

Good location
The hotel was pretty good, we had a room with a sauna and kitchen, so there was plenty of room, and the room was nice. Sauna had a problem, but it was fixed quicky, so service was excellent. Location-wise, it's just next to the cross-country skiing and snowshoeing tracks, and we had a lovely view to the Urho Kekkonen nature reserve. Breakfast was good, and the hotel's daily steak/fish offer good and of good value

Nice hotel
This hotel is nice, relative to typical Finnish standards of simplicity. Very clean, functional (we were upgraded to kitchenette with sauna). The hotel generally has a feel of the 70's. Compared to American hotels though, you must pay substantially more money in Finland to get a room comparable to an American hotel. Don't expect luxury anywhere in Finland (though we did not price out hotels over $150 so I cannot say whether there are luxury hotels in the higher market).
