Cozy escape close to downtown, stadiums & parks
Welcome to our renovated 1896 bungalow, we envisioned a place where visitors could cozy up, stay a while and experience city living amidst the peacefulness of park life. We believe that art is meant to be shared so we designed the home to feature colorful pieces that convey happiness. The house has been freshly renovated and decorated with a mix of modern and vintage pieces. The house is within walking distance of the 250+ acre Riverview Park so wildlife and trail adventures await!
Neighborhood description Explore the woods at nearby Riverview Park and discover many other city amenities that are close to the house. Created in 1894, the park predates the City of Allegheny’s annexation to the City of Pittsburgh in 1907. Formed largely from farmland, today’s Riverview Park is known for its dense woodlands and steep topography. The park’s extensive network of trails invites hikers, joggers, and the occasional horseback rider into the woods. The park is also home to the landmark Allegheny Observatory, a visitor’s center, a swimming pool and activities building, the natural beauty of the Mairdale watershed, and the popular two-mile Riverview Loop. Residents enjoy the park's pool, playground, ball field, shelters and summertime concerts and movies.
The home is in a residential neighborhood close to the local Carnegie library, several pizza/sub shops, and other unique eateries. The house is within driving distance of full-service grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, dry cleaners, gas stations, restaurants, bars, and other night life, however, all of these types of establishments are within one or two miles. Unique to the area is the local Bread Works for delicious artistry breads.
From the house you will be able to walk out the front door and down the street into the lower part of Riverview Park. There are an extensive choice of trails to choose from if you like to hike or mountain bike. The terrain is hilly with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is rich in wildlife so don't be surprised to see deer, possum, raccoons, turkeys, ground hogs and the occasional fox at night. The wildlife is very docile and are used to being around people. Please remember that although they are gentle, their personal space needs to be respected.
Getting around There is plenty of free street parking out front. You can walk, Uber or bus to just about any of the main attractions as this home is just minutes to Downtown, PNC Park, Heinz Field, AGH, North Shore dining and activities. It is within walking distance of the bus line. It is a 10-12 Uber ride to the strip district, south side or PPG Paints Arena. Easy access to I-279 and the parkway. It is about 20 minutes to the airport, depending on time of day/traffic.
The space The Space Essentials We take pride in offering a naturally clean, warm and welcoming space. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom. The house is stocked with linens, towels and amenities in the kitchen and the bathroom to make your stay more convenient. There is a Black & Decker 4-in-1 coffee-maker, as well as microwave, pots, pans and other cooking items in the kitchen for guests to be able to cook their own food. There is free WiFi and TV with a Blu-Ray player, we keep a selection of DVD/BluRay discs on hand. The house is cleaned using only natural environmentally friendly products and we are passionate about recycling.
Guest access You can access the house anytime after 3 pm by using the keypad. The unique access code will be the last four digits of the phone number you have on file with VRBO on the day of your arrival. We ask that you respect our home and the quiet hours of the community. Our home is not baby proofed, and may not be ideal for families with very small children, however, children are welcome at your own discretion.
Other things to note: Please ensure you are booking with your full legal name. We may request additional information upon booking.
**Parties and events are not permitted ** This is a non-smoking home. There is absolutely no smoking anywhere on the premises. Smoking can damage our art. If this rule is violated, you will be asked to vacate the premises immediately without a refund. If there is smoking in the house you will be charged an additional $250 cleaning fee.
Guest access Self check-in Check yourself in with the smartlock.
Other things to note There are absolutely no parties of events allowed at the house. This policy is strictly enforced. Unfortunately there have been three incidents of people hosting parties at the house in violation of our policy that were extremely distressing. The last guest had well over 100 people and the neighbors called the police. It is a quiet family neighborhood and I do not want to be known as a nuisance house in the neighborhood. After the last incident, the neighbor’s have a zero tolerance for parties and will contact the police. If you are interested in having a few friends visit you at the house please notify me but for insurance reasons and out of respect for my neighbors I must enforce this rule. I appreciate your understanding.

Lisa was communicative and went out of her way to get the house ready for us a bit early. Pearl the Welcome Cat was a delight and kept us both entertained and comfortable (she slept with me all night). The house was bright, cheerful, clean, quirky, cute, fun. We stayed one night after a concert @ The Roxian (~15 minute drive) and had a wonderful, comfortable stay. We couldn’t figure out the thermostat, but there were copious blankets, all clean, fresh, bright and warm.

I was in town with my son for his college interview/audition. This place was super convenient:- easy parking- clean- warm- full kitchen (though we didn't cook)The owner was very available and responsive. But our favorite part of the stay was meeting the neighborhood cat Pearl. She was always around, and hung out with us. My son said if he ends up attending school here he'll want to visit Pearl on the weekends.

I've been to Pittsburgh twice before this trip, but never spending much time inside the city itself. Having a spot that was clean, easy to access and cozy to come back to in between running around downtown and a wedding was perfect! Pearl was honestly the highlight of the stay- I dont think I've ever met.a sweeter cat. The property owner was so quick to reply with any questions I had, but honestly it was a hands-off stay, because they made it so easy from the start. Thanks for adding to a fantastic trip!

Lisa’s house worked out well for us — got to do laundry, hang out comfortably, let dog into side yard to go potty, close to downtown for sightseeing, but provided a quiet place to sleep at night.

Really enjoyed staying at this property. Conveniently located to the areas we like to visit. Fenced in backyard was nice for our dog. Really enjoyed spending time with Pearl the cat, she is so sweet. Highly recommend, we will definitely stay here again. Thanks Lisa, you are the best host that we’ve had so far.

The house is nice and cozy. 2 floors with top floor with bedroom and mainfloor with kitchen, living room. There is a nice backyard also which my dogs loved. We attended a concert and only stayed a night but would have been great for longer stay also.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience staying at this cozy home! Don’t let the outside or driving up the street fool you. This cute older home is very well kept, clean & cozy! I had my 18yr son & my Frenchie on this short trip and we were all comfortable! If you’re traveling with a dog, the home has a huge backyard that’s fenced in so it makes it easier to let your pups out to potty. Lisa is a very great, friendly, helpful host & very responsive to any messages you send, before, during after your stay. The location of the home is very convenient to downtown Pittsburgh and easy to get around. If I had to say anything negative it wouldn’t even be related to Lisa or something in her control. There is parking right in front of the house which is great but the street is a tight fit so you have to park a little on the curb (no big deal) but leaving/turning around could be tricky if you have a big vehicle. I have a smaller jeep so it was no issue for me, just thought that info could be helpful to someone with a bigger vehicle. But I’m sure if you went down the street there’s a way out where you don’t have to do a 3 point turn. There are 3 very curious dogs in one of the neighboring homes that barked a lot at night when my frenchie went out to potty but other than that I highly recommend this property!!

This property was perfect for our family! Lisa was extremely sweet and even accommodated a last minute situation which she did not at all have to do- but we are so appreciative and grateful for her kindness!! The property was very clean, smelled wonderful, and was overall super cozy and welcoming! The art work throughout the house is beautiful! The shower was nice and large and the water got nice and hot! You could smell the cleanliness of the blankets and towels! The use of low-toxic cleaning products was an added bonus! Pearl, the neighbor cat was such a sweetheart! There are other free roam cats on the street also, but we did not have any issues with any animals in the yard which is great for people who have “friend selective” dogs! & I even got to feed a deer out of my hand! Our pups loved the fenced in yard, the area was quiet- the neighbors did not bother us, although they do have large dogs that will occasionally bark if they see/hear you outside, but nothing excessive or bothersome at all. Just something to note if you have dogs yourself that may alert to hearing other animals! I am already thinking about when we will be able to visit again because honestly, we travel quite often and our stay here was so comfortable and the yard made it so painless to bring our pups! Highly recommend Lisa’s property!!
