This property is not up to the caliber of a 4-star hotel is grossly overpriced for the quality of accommodation. I also have concerns that a number of the reviews about this hotel are fabricated.
The property's common areas are shabby, and not in the "charming" sense they try to claim. As other's have said, the $30 "resort fee" is laughable. There is no gym, no room service, no pool, actually no property amenities at all.
The room itself was clean, and large for NYC. However, there's no cable, no phone, and my shower did not have hot water. I've come to expect in-room noise when I travel to NYC, but this was worst than most. Thin enough walls where I could hear conversations of my neighbors, and it seems there's a nightclub within earshot so there was a good bit of bass thumping until the wee hours.
The front desk staff is just odd. I think they mean well but they lack a level of professionalism that just makes interacting with them off-putting. For the price of this hotel you can find MUCH nicer properties in the area. I travel to NYC quite often and would never stay again.
