One of the best hotels you can stay at if you are driving into NYC. There is always parking directly across the street or around the corner. Keyless entry with pin instead of using a card, so you can never lose your keys. All in all a GREAT hotel. I always come back!

Glad to hear you were pleased with our hospitality and our well-appointed apartment style suites. We now have a Pasticceria/bakery with a rich array of Italian baked goods and our homemade handmade mozzarella, ravioli, gnocchi, and an assortment of sauces made from scratch are unique to today’s culinary world. So sorry I missed you and all your group. I would have so wanted to give you our grand tour of our National Geographic award – winning hotel. If you come back in the Spring or fall come see me for an experience of Old New York’s Last Transformed Tenement. I would have liked to have heard you were pleased with our hospitality and our well-appointed apartment style suites are pretty good too. We love having offerings no one in the NYC hotel business do not have…. kitchenettes, tubs, large bathrooms, high ceilings and balconies are white elephants in NYC. This year I’ve put the same inspiration and drive to recreate my Nonna Carolina’s 1930s Brooklyn style artisan Italian restaurant. We now have a Pasticceria/bakery with a rich array of Italian baked goods and our homemade handmade mozzarella, ravioli, gnocchi, and an assortment of sauces made from scratch are unique to today’s culinary world. I hope on your next trip. Best wishes, Randy Settenbrino, Artist and Developer

We're sorry that you did not appreciate the extreme uniqueness of our property. Not only was your room nearly double the size of a standard NYC room, but we also boast in every room ten-to-fifteen-foot-high ceiling, spacious bathrooms with full tubs, luxury fabrics, tables and chairs, induction plates and kitchenettes with deep sinks, chine and cutlery, fridges and freezers, but more than half of our rooms have balconies as well.Regarding your Television predicament, our flatscreen televisions provide most major channels. Your room did in fact have a bedside outlet, you merely had to look - every four feet, New York Law mandates there be an outlet. If your shower had no water, you must have not known which way to turn the handle, as the sink and the shower are on the same plumbing line, and thus would either both would receive hot water, or neither would. There are three light sources in every room, bedside, recess lighting, and central fixtures. Should one not have been active, our maintenance team remains on hand to deal with any issue that develops, you should have informed the front desk for any such issue. The Historic Blue Moon Hotel is an Award-Winning Historic Renovation Preservation Project, recognized and awarded by National Geographic as "One of 150 in the Western Hemisphere to Check Into", "Best Hundred Little Hotels" by Rizzoli, CitySearch, and New York Magazine, among others, and more than 50 major articles have been published on our Award-Winning Hotel. Our front-desk staff, labor tirelessly to provide all our Guests with the maximum level of 24 /7 comfort and safety. I welcome you to go find another Hotel in NYC that offers the exact same accommodations for even 50% more than our prices - because nobody can offer you the Historic Blue Moon Hotel Experience. Next time do your due-diligence, and if it's an industrial chic hotel that you want, there are 400+ in NYC alone - but we are Once in a Blue Moon.

I love boutique hotels, and thought with the historic accolades this hotel would be great. It's not terrible, but there were quite a few issues, running toilet, flickering lights, broken coffee pot, cheerios on the floor from previous guest, lumpy pillows and the mattress was sloped and the shower doors didn't slide - the property is tired. The room was spacious and had a nice balcony but for the money I think we could have done better. Staff was not outright snarky, but not anxious to please either. You can do better in NYC.
Response from Settenbrino on Oct 27, 2023
Most people appreciate the experience and epicenter location that The Historical Blue Moon offers. Unfortunately, in the world we live in it is impossible to please everybody. Regarding your comment “The property is tired”? It is a 2006 building with a skin of all the architectural details sanctified throughout the hotel. Additionally, while shut down during the pandemic 2M upgrades new furniture, kitchenettes, pots pans, chine, cutlery, and refinishing of all the historical details. Our rooms have three different light sources, tastefully and strategically laid out. A flickering light bulb & a running toilet is a inevitable periodic occurrence which we have staff take care of post haste. We have two different types of pillows, hard and soft, and they are from an upscale company specializing in hospitality. Our rooms are apartment size rooms, luxurious accommodations, private thermostat kitchenette, large bathrooms with tubs as well as an award-winning design replete with historical details balconies which all of which are virtually nonexistent in NYC and nowhere near our prices and I challenge you to show me otherwise. Moreover, we have our own bakery on the premises, café restaurant, wine bar and often a pianist. I would like to add there is so much more about our very unique NYC hotel besides having the biggest and best rooms in NYC complete with two white elephants balconies and kitchenettes and that is, we are known as the Hotel for The Art's.In fact, Blue Moon, is a meritorious art project, boasts 40+ articles and prestigious awards and accolades via National Geographic Traveler (One in 150 Hotels in the Western Hemisphere to Check Into), NY Magazine, Citysearch, and Rizzoli’s Best 100 Little Hotels.Next time you're in NYC drop by, I hope to provide you with a personal tour of our historic award-winning hotelBest wishesRandy SettenbrinoArtist and Developer of The Historic Blue Hotel

Your cryptic message leaves much to the imagination. Not sure whether you mean internally or externally. The hotel is in the liveliest cultural and artsy part of the city and this fact resonates highly with all of our guests who want to be in a real neighborhood and not in an anonymous, soulless hotel in midtown, a place even native New Yorkers dread to be in. If internally occasionally people come to the hotel who lack discretion, this is easily rectified by the front desk putting a wayward guest on notice, that either they calm down or leave the premises. Sorry that the unique opportunity to be an award-winning hotel , chosen by National Geographic as one of 150 in the Western Hemisphere to check into, as well as the huge media triumph and other accolades, didn't quite get your attention. Wishing you a better stay next time you are in the city that never sleeps.

Tha true meaning of hidden gem
This hotel is the actual definition of hidden gem and it really is, the moment you entered the hotel it really transport you to the era cafe shop in the front restaurant in the back the rooms are very comfortable they all have balconybut ypu have to share them but inguess i was the only one using it, but there's one room that really was jaw dropping and that is 603 if your are a couple or a single adventurous this room wont let you down it's big and spacious the balcony is very spacious hope they put the patio furniture soon. Now the service i work in the hospitality business for 25+ years and travels the service that mister David Del Valle give me was beyond since the moment you enter the hotel this great gentleman greets you with the warmest heart if you need directions or recommendations on anything specifically bagels or iconic thing in lower east side he is your man to go even to talk to him was good, you also get to meet the creator of this masterpiece Mr. Settenbrino he is always there on the weekdays to show you around and tell you the stories his wife make the most delicious cookies in the word and they are big. This hotel is close to everywhere like the subway,Chinatown,Little Italy, Wall Street Tribeca, Soho you named it so many bars and restaurants around it so glad i came to this place and will be my to go hotel for now on thank you david again for everything. P.S. The bagels where really good Gracias.

Well-situated, bizarre little hotel
What an interesting, bizarre little place in a great location. The rooms were comfortable, the balconies fantastic. And every interaction with the staff where information was imparted conflicted with other information imparted by staff and left me confused. If you need concierge service, this isn't your place. If you like weird and also pretty good wifi and a quiet place to sleep in a great location for a reasonable price, you're gonna be hard-pressed to do better in Manhattan.

This property is not up to the caliber of a 4-star hotel is grossly overpriced for the quality of accommodation. I also have concerns that a number of the reviews about this hotel are fabricated. The property's common areas are shabby, and not in the "charming" sense they try to claim. As other's have said, the $30 "resort fee" is laughable. There is no gym, no room service, no pool, actually no property amenities at all. The room itself was clean, and large for NYC. However, there's no cable, no phone, and my shower did not have hot water. I've come to expect in-room noise when I travel to NYC, but this was worst than most. Thin enough walls where I could hear conversations of my neighbors, and it seems there's a nightclub within earshot so there was a good bit of bass thumping until the wee hours. The front desk staff is just odd. I think they mean well but they lack a level of professionalism that just makes interacting with them off-putting. For the price of this hotel you can find MUCH nicer properties in the area. I travel to NYC quite often and would never stay again.

Beware!! This place is a DUMP
This is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in and I travel every other week. The hotel makes you check out 11 and if you want to leave your bags it’s a $50 charge even for only two hours. The management is aggressive and rude and not accommodating. It’s an old property with me no flare way over priced. They didn’t even clean my room in the three nights that I stayed there. I will never stay here again and highly suggest you don’t either

The location of the hotel is great. While it definitely has an old NY charm, it comes at a cost literally (it’s pricey for what you get with no breakfast and daily housekeeping) and in terms of quality (the sink was clogged, there are random squeaking sounds and overall atmosphere is a bit odd).

I absolutely love this hotel. The staff are very kind, the neighborhood is my favorite in New York, and the hotel is very charming. It’s not a hipster hotel, so if you want that experience, go do a different thing. But if you want to stay in a historic, restored tenement, and you want the most spacious hotel room that you can get for this price, with an ACTUAL balcony and kitchenette, definitely book here!!
