In that spirit we would hope that any service dog owner would be able to communicate with us so that we may prepare the property and remove any hazards that would exist for an animal and remove our own animals as well, although it is not a requirement. According to VRBO, A host may only ask the following questions: • Whether the service dog is required because of a disability • What work the dog has been trained to perform You were not able to answer those questions. It was a shame that the animal was locked up in the house, howling, while you, your sister, and the whole group was out on the lake during the day. It appears that you are retaliating because of damages you had to pay by misrepresenting the number of people staying overnight at the property. You broke the rental agreement when you had more than the maximum number of people stay at our property. You misrepresented that when you made the reservation and again when you communicated with us the day before. We apologize for giving the impression that we were reacting to your sister’s disability rather than your disrespect for our need to prepare for our guests. Owners and travelers take a leap of faith when renting. Honesty is important.
