Situated on 23 acres with horses, mobs of kangaroos, echidnas and beautiful birdlife. Stunning views north to Kinglake, and only minutes from Yarra Glen. The closest winery with gourmet pizzas within walking distance. Cycling trails just outside the gate leading in all directions. We offer an Uber service in a Toyota Hilux. Bookings essential.
All this and only 45 minutes from the city. Distance from Melbourne Airport is only 41 mins by car without traffic.
Separated from the rest of the house by a locked door, and with contactless access. Your own parking area, outdoor area, and totally self-contained. Deep cleaned after each guests departure.
Set on 23 acres with beautiful views to Kinglake, and easy access to boutique wineries, wedding venues and restaurants, on the edge of the Yarra Valley. We offer bushwalking tracks, mountain bike trails and great places to eat and drink.
Rob Roy Hill Climb - the oldest hill climb in Australia, and the State Park with wildflowers, wildlife, walking, riding and mountain bike trails.
Large light, room with queen size bed, couch, table, chairs, tv, outside deck with table and chairs. Mezzanine bedroom with 2 single beds, one a king single, accessed via a unique spiral staircase. Cot and highchair available.
Kitchenette with microwave, fridge etc. Key safe for easy access.
Feel free to wander around and pat the horses over the fence. My sausage dogs will bark at you to let me know someone is there, but then lick you! They are only letting me know I have visitors.
We are in the country so there are noises throughout the night from possums, kangaroos, wombats, our own chickens, dogs and horses as well as other animals. There are no rats or mice on the property, just lots of wildlife!

My friend and I have been coming to stay at Karen’s place for the last 3 years in a row and every time we have a wonderful time in this cosy, picturesque space. The views and surrounding wildlife make it extra special and the atmosphere of the beautiful building is breathtaking. Strongly recommended!

Quaint, cozy, welcoming cottage in Smiths Gully with wonderful views over hillside & bushland. The ambiance is very Tuscan like. Accommodation is very comfortable with ground floor & loft levels. Bathroom is spacious with an enormous view window to take in the beautiful surrounds. The kitchenette has everything needed for short stays. Host is lovely. Certainly can recommend if you are ever travelling to the Yarra Valley / Yarra Glen region.

However we were not made aware that we'd be in the same house as the owner, was very suprised. But beautiful location and an awesome little getaway. I feel this should be made aware on the listing.

Beautiful scenery and lovely architectural place. Karen was accomodating. Even though it said pet friendly and was fenced we weren’t able to let our dogs of lead as there were chickens etc roaming and was told to only keep our dogs in the kitchen which was less than two meters big. Shower floor needed a clean as there was hairs and dusty. Also the fridge was unplugged so there was water which was ok but the next day we realised the temperature of it was set to very cold which made our food close to frozen. Loved how warm the place was though, very couzy and enjoyed taking photos 🥰

This pictures showed a lovely space but when I arrived, it was even better than the images! We arrived early evening and the accommodation was super comfortable. The entry has the kitchenette and the main room and loft were spacious and warm, without heating on. The bathroom was also impressive. We [my dog + I] enjoyed a stroll into the back paddock and also walked the path which passes past the residence, to Smiths Gully Store [cafe] for a morning coffee - just over 1km away. I'm only sorry I didn't have longer to enjoy this space more and surrounding attractions [we were staying for a dog trial being held nearby]. I left in a rush [slept in due to daylight savings change-over] on our last morning [sorry about not being as tidy as I normally am at checkout!].

Karen's property was a great place to getaway in the Yarra Valley. It was quiet, peaceful yet still relatively close to all the attractions. The residence was equipped with what you needed to ensure a smooth stay. Would recommend to any couples/small families visiting the area.

A lovely clean, warm and comfortable home. We were disappointed to find we were not allowed to use all three beds despite booking for three guests (none of us are a couple, just three friends wanting a relaxing weekend away). Two of the beds were still not ready after we arrived for check-in. Kitchenette was a bit cramped and we were shocked to find there was no sink. We feel this should have been made clearer before we booked. While this may have been out of Karen’s control, there was no internet on the second night and so we were unable to watch Netflix or listen to Spotify which were both items listed under entertainment on the posting. We were then messaged by the host that night to be quieter when we were playing a board game but we did not see the message until the next morning since we had no internet that night. The beds were very comfortable and the property itself was lovely. Loved walking around and seeing the horses and chickens.
