Cozy Cottage with 45' Lake Frontage and Kayaks
Our cozy cottage is in the heart of wine country and overlooks Seneca Lake from the east side, so the sunsets are amazing and filled with spectacular colors. Set among summer cottages and homes in a rustic/country-style neighborhood, our property has 45 feet of lake frontage with a dock. Depending on the weather and day of the week, the atmosphere on this uncongested lake ranges from calm and peaceful to joyful and fun.
Our newly renovated cottage features a luxurious bathroom with a whirlpool tub, an open floor plan between the kitchen and living room, and a deck with a comfortable patio set and gas grill. There are two sliding glass doors that lead from the living room to the deck, which allow for nice lake views through the surrounding trees. Four adults or three adults and two children can sleep comfortably in this one bedroom cottage with a queen-size bed, a twin-size bed, and a full-size pullout couch.
The lakefront has a shaded area with a bonfire ring and picnic table, as well as a sunny dock. You can borrow the owner's 4 kayaks, peddle boat, and row boat, and use camp chairs that are the boat shed. There's something for everyone, including swimming, boating, kayaking, long walks along a dirt road through vineyards, fishing, and romantic evenings watching the sunset and drinking local wine.
Amenities:
- luxurious bathroom with whirlpool tub - fully stocked kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, cookware, and utensils - We don't supply live TV, but you can access any of your own apps through our Roku. Also, if you get live TV through Hulu or Sling, for example, you can log in to it through our Roku. - high speed internet - air conditioning - clean linens provided - clothes washer and dryer - 45 feet of lake frontage - 2 kayaks, 1 peddle boat, and 1 row boat - parking for two vehicles - queen-size bed in bedroom, twin-size bed in main room, and full-size pullout couch in living room - deck facing the lake with a comfortable patio set and gas grill - the lakefront has a shaded area with a bonfire ring and picnic table, as well as a sunny dock. You can borrow the owner's two kayaks, peddle boat, and rowboat, life preservers, and use the extra chairs that are kept in the boat shed - access to the lake frontage from the yard is by way of a sturdy staircase or by a short road that goes around the neighborhood (about 1/4 mile to our frontage). The staircase has about 75 steps. The run for the steps is 11 inches, which is nice, and there are three decks with benches, in case anyone needs to rest or wants to see the view. It's also very handy to be able to drive down if you're carrying coolers, towels, etc., or are taking some small kids down all at once. The road is for limited use, especially on busy weekends, but it is there when you need it.
The area is incredibly dense with wineries overlooking the lake. You can have a great time touring the area and tasting wines. THERE ARE MORE THAN 10 WINERIES AND A BREWERY WITHIN A 10 MINUTE DRIVE, AND ONE WINERY WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. The property is 15 minutes from Watkins Glen, home of the Watkins Glen International Race Track and the Watkins Glen Gorge. At the Glen Harbor Marina, take a ride on Captain Bill's Sightseeing Boat, the Seneca Legacy Dinnercruise Boat, or the Malibar/True Love Sailboat. Our cottage is also surrounded by the Finger Lakes National Forest, with hiking trails. You-pick fruit orchards and honor-system fruit and vegetable stands are available frequently during the summer and fall. Skyland Farm, a fine-craft gallery with items from 500+ artists and a feeding farm, is a must-see. The cuisine in the area is delicious with dining atmospheres ranging from casual to elegant. Many of the restaurants offer local, farm-fresh foods. Two miles across the lake, the Rainbow Cove Restaurant has slips for boats.
Here are some of the local events: - Finger Lakes Wine Festival, July - Nascar races at Watkins Glen International Racetrack, Watkins Glen, NY - Lodi Bluegrass Festival, October, Lodi, NY

The house clean and details provided about the listing were very accurate. My wife enjoyed jetted tub. Location was excellent and easy to get following directions and information about the roads near cottage. The fenced in yard for dogs was very convenient . We only stayed one day and it rained but would be an excellent spot to view a beautiful sunset that the area is known for .

Very nice cottage and beach and as is often the case, lakefront spots are always even better in person. Owner very responsive and friendly. Just can't beat the Finger Lakes!

Mike and Mary were wonderful hosts. Very prompt with answering questions and just very easy to talk to. The cottage was lovely and the location on the lake couldn’t have been better Super close to several wineries and breweries. Mike and Mary put together a great list of recommendations that was super useful. Highly recommend this adorable little cottage.

The cottage was indeed cozy, perfect for a lakeside house. Kitchen was well equipped and clean, had everything we needed. Loved having the kayaks, we took a couple trips out on the lake in our short 3 night stay. The water front area is not ideal for swimming, but I still took a couple dips after kayaking...
Great area - lots of wineries plus Watkins Glen and Taughannock Falls State park less than 25 minutes away. Geneva, only 35 minutes to the north, is another "cool" little finger lake town(small city) on the north end of the lake - "Lake Trout Capital of the World"

My husband, I and our dog had a great week long stay at Mary's and Mike's cozy cottage. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Great outdoor deck with a fenced in yard below it for our pup! The views from the deck were amazing. The stairs going down were no problem and the lakefront was wonderful. Our pup loved playing and swimming in the water and we loved taking the kayaks out. Mary and Mike were very friendly and responsive with any questions we had. Loved our stay and hope to come back again!

Greatest use of space, an old garage transformed into a very quaint cottage. Had everything we needed. Be aware there are three cottages that share all the listed beach amenities, did not know that but it was not an issue at all. Overall perfect place for the pets with a fenced in backyard.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cute little cabin. It was very clean and enough space for our dogs and the two of us. The 75 stairs were not an issue at all, in fact, sometimes we went up and down a couple times a day. We loved taking the kayaks out. On our last evening around 7:00 pm we kayaked down the left and saw four huge bald eagles. That was amazing. There were a lot of good wineries and restaurants in the area. All of them were excellent. The view was so pretty. Also close to Watkins Glen and many other state parks. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

There are 100 steps down to the lake - yes, I counted twice.. This property is ABOVE the lake. It is a converted garage right on the 1.3 mile dirt road - do NOT bring a nice car. If you have any mobility issues, the steps to the lake can be slippery and it is steep. The kayaks are great! The cottage is dated but has everything you need. It is suggested NOT to drink the water as it is lake water and you need to bring your own toilet paper-weird. Perhaps I did not read the description well, but I wish I had known these things before I booked. The owner was very responsive when we needed ant traps.

We had a relaxing and comfortable stay at Mike and Mary's cottage. There is a wonderful deck over looking a fenced in yard and Seneca Lake. The 75 steps down to the lake sounds daunting, but it was actually not a problem at all! I took advantage of the view off the deck and painted the beautiful scenery. If you paint, I encourage you to bring your easel and paints! Our two small dogs had a great time feeling the independence of walking out the sliding doors in the kitchen, onto the deck, down the stairs and inspecting the yard! The yard was also large enough for 15 pound dogs to play Frisbee! Mary was very kind and communicative and made sure any concerns we had were addressed. We appreciated her help and information! We met Mike one day while returning from a fun day touring the wineries, we had a lovely conversation about the history of his family in the area and their future plans. We would absolutely recommend the "Cozy Cottage" on Seneca Lake, so close to many great dog friendly restaurants and wineries! You will have a great time!

The house itself was clean and roomy. Had things been working properly and communication happened up front it would have been less disappointing. Pictures in the Liston are outdated. While the pictures show all the steps to the lake, the pictures show new well maintained steps, now the steps are ages and slippery. They need to be power washed. The fenced in yard is great for dogs but had now been mowed. The cold water in the whirlpool tubsb did not work. The lakeside area was junky with actually the owners stuff next to the dock area for this cabin. The picture left to show what area was shared and what was for each of the cabins did not look anything like what it looked like once down there. There were many rules including only making one trip down to the lakeside area per day, but if unable to go up and down the stairs, that should have been disclosed within the cancelation timeframe. The beach area was actually full of grass so it wasn’t really conducive to swimming. Or paddleboating. The house itself was great. The amenities we thought we would be able to enjoy as a “lakefront house” were not represented accurately in a timely fashion that would allow someone to make a decision about whether it was a property they would enjoy renting.

My spouse and I booked a getaway in late April. The cottage was clean, cute and so close to multiple fantastic wineries. It was a rainy weekend so we didn’t get to enjoy the lake, but will have to book Cozy Cottage again for future weekends!

My husband and I enjoyed being able to stay in such a beutiful part of the region and still be close to our kids. Everything went so smootly with the directions getting to this private little paridise from Mary made it so easy. We enjoyed having such a resposive host. Would highly recommend staying here. We will be back again for sure. The place was just as pictured and very clean. I had no complants of the property. I love the way they made the space feel so open and have the double set of slidding doors to see the views from everywhere. The deck was so enjoyable to sit out on and watch the sunrise and listen to the sounds of nature. We loved being down on the lake dock to watch the sunset. Our stay was such a peaceful and relaxing visit from our overly busy lives. The full kitchen was wonderful to have, but love that this place is so central to so many restarunts and things to do within 30 minutes. We walked the stairs down to and up from the lakeshore, just as told it was like 75 steps, but nothing to bad and felt safe on the steps. Loved being able to take a bath with the jets and candles. We needed this refreasher for just one night, but planning a longer getaway in this beautiful place.

upon arriving and entering bathroom our first problem happened... the bathroom heater was broken. the jacuzzi tub cold water side did not work. a note told us to run the cold water from the shower faucet to fill up tub. then the unattached step to get into tub fell away when stepped on. i was pretty seriously hurt. i injured my leg, banged the back of my head and hurt my shoulder. needless to say i removed the unsafe step immediately.. when makin our way to very high steps leading to water there was a pavilion on top of the hill . it very cluttered with pieces of lumber and assorted debris. also like the railings going down , no railing pickets. the building in question was being supported on one side by a car jack on a piece of wood. very dangerous. the inside of rental was dirty and very dated. we loved the area but the place was terrible.

My wife and I got away for a quick trip without our toddlers and we loved the region we picked. There is so much to do on the east side of Seneca. To find a nice little cottage with Lake Views, seasonal kayaks, and cozy amenities just added to our great adventure. We had a wonderful stay.
