We were treated as honored guests at this beautiful hotel. Situated less then 10 minutes walk from the centre of Kars, Katerina Sarayi is bordered on one side by a lovely garden next to the rushing Kars Stream, and a steep, rocky rise to Kars Castle at the back. This is fairy tale accommodation, with beautiful rooms, excellent breakfast and royal attentivenes /courtesy from management and staff. Drinks - hot and cold - were always available in the garden and the lobby is warm and cosy, despite the formal antique decor. The resident cat adds extra atmosphere. The only negative aspect was communication before arrival. I tried messages through Wotif and the 2 email addresses on the hotel website, which bounced, so I could not confirm the booking, payment details or make transport reservations. There is not much English spoken, so it was also too difficult by phone. It all worked out however, and we had a wonderful stay - thank you!

The staff are so helpful and friendly. Gave great suggestions for my travel and organised the travel. At my stay there were traditional musical performers near the hotel. Wish I stayed there longer.

The building is charming. The staff is very helpful, particularly Mr. Ahmet who speaks very good English and is quite knowledgeable and very professional. The rooms are comfortable The breakfast is great.

This is a very historic hotel. It’s located at the base of the Kars Citadel which was nice. WiFi was non existent in my room. I had to go to the lobby to get a weak Signal. I was woken up throughout the night due to dogs barking. The breakfast was decent and the coffee delicious. The hotel does not offer tours or transportation at the front desk as the website states. Taxi is what they will book for you—including to Ani. Having a hot tea outside by the river was quite nice. There was even cats to keep you company. If it wasn’t for the issue with the dogs, WiFi accessibility and transportation I would rate it a 10/10. But these three issues were important ones for me. So I’d give them a 5/10. I checked out after the first day and now at a central location where none of these issues exist. I even revived accurate information on getting to Ani by shuttle bus. Amazing. A very nice, historic hotel but I won’t be returning

Hotel Katarina has a lovely vibe with its historic theme and beautiful view of the river. They do wine nights on weekends with live music which are worth the join.

The building itself was nice, reminded me of those dark Russian buildings. Our room was fine but very, very stinky from bleach. I have asthma and was dying inside. There was only one window with the mosquito net so it took forever to air the smell out. We were surprised to hear that they don’t have a restaurant, according to Google they do, so we just walked into town to eat. They do have little tables by the river for drinks only. Otherwise no food. Breakfast was good. My concern was that I contacted this property many times prior to arriving and never received a reply. When we were checking in they looked surprised to see us and asked if we have a reservation… When I showed them the Expedia printout they asked how long ago I booked lol. It was like 4 months prior! Does it even matter? We did get a room but staff looked like they couldn’t care more so I wouldn’t have been surprised if they sent us away.

Beautiful history hotel!
We loved our stay here! The staff was kind and helpful! The breakfast had a wonderful buffet and tons of options for every guest. Our room was spacious and perfect for our little family of 3. It snowed the day we visited and the view of the river and surrounding area was magical. It is on the backside of the castle, but you can still walk to most sites (about 15 minutes).

An excellent hotel in Kars, run by a wonderful team of staff. They're delightful and it was a pleasure to stay there. The location is beautiful, and isn't as far from the centre of town as some people say it is. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I would definitely return.

This s one of the best places you can stay in Kars, just the hotel it self worth seeing as it locates by the small local river surrounded by mountains providing beautiful views.

Great choice.. on the river with cay & coffee served with fire pits to keep you warm @ night.. no alcohol sold on site.. breakfast served from 7 ~ 10am... good enough to keep you going for the best part of a day.. having said that had to ask for milk and coffee cups.. & fruit juices every morning.. as it was never put out.. staff very accommodating... walking distance to the castle and most sites.. 15tl taxi ride to the restaurant’s.. Would I use the hotel again.. Yes 👍

Very good hotel
Overall a very good place to stay. The only downside is the location away from the city center, which requires transportation by car or taxi to get around to restaurants, etc.

Really good location but a bit hard to find initially by car... Once we found it getting back there by car was easy. Used the hotel as a base and we went exploring and carpet shopping. The staff where excellent

The historic building, the location were unique. Very nice. Somehow the staff could make more of it. The restaurant could be a great place, however it only seems to be used for breakfasts - maybe because we were there during the low season.

Nice hotel but a few issues with facilities!
A nicely decorated hotel and clean in a good location, although expensive for Turkey (and worse facilities) for the price. The main two issues for us were: (1) wifi: neither of us could connect the first night we were there at all despite there being signal and only managed the next morning. This might not be an issue for you bit we were cycle touring and our stop in a hotel every 4th night was a vital wifi opportunity to check route and book our next night's accommodation etc! (2): no air con. We paid about 50€ for the hotel and, given the price didn't think to check for this. Temperatures were over 35 degrees, as is usual for that time of year, and to not have aircon, or even a ceiling or stand up fan made the night very unpleasant! We would have been better off in our tent!

+ vintage house with good garden and river view. Just located downstairs castle, amazing. The top room with the big window so you can see the moon and stars and hear the river sound at night. The people are so nice and willing to help you, althought cannot speak fluent english. They try the best to serve you. - Breakfast is just a little bit disappointed. *10 mins walk from the centre to Hotel.

Kars'a gidenlere Katerina Sarayı'nı tavsiye ederim
Kars'ın merkezine yakın çok güzel bir yer olan Hotel Katerina Sarayı'nda çok güzel üç gün geçirdim. Otel çok rahat ve temiz, otelin önünde güzel bir çay bahçesi var. Personel çok cana yakın ve yardımsever. Kars'a tekrar gidersem kesinlikle yine Otel Katerina Sarayı'nda kalacağım sadece tavsiye edebilirim. (Almanım, lütfen Türkçemi mazur görün.)

Otel eski ve bakımsız. Odaya yerleşmeden yatağı kontrol ettiğimde nevresimlerin değişmediğini sadece düzeltildiğini fark ettim. Yorganı kaldırdığımda çarşafın üzerinde saç ve kıllar vardı. Otelden nevresim değişikliği istedim. Değiştik dendi fakat çarşaftaki saçlar ve kıllar hala duruyordu. Sonunda bizim yanımızda değişmelerini istedim . Değiştiler ve yeni serdikleri öarşaf yırtıktı. Kahvaltı vasat. Banyo bakımsız. Sadece otel konumu güzel

Merhabalar, biz bugüne kadar online sitelerde yapılan hiç bir olumlu veya olumsuz yoruma cevap vermedik. Hakkımızda ilk defa da böyle olumsuz bir yorum yapılıyor. En basitinden konakladığınız odanın tadilatı ve yenilenmesi Ekim 2022’de yapıldı ki tesisimiz 2017 yılında hizmete açıldı. Henüz 5 yıllık bir tesis. Arkadaşlarımızdan aldığımız bilgiler, moralinizin bozuk ve çok sinirli olduğunuz, iade almak için belki de her şeyde bir sorun aradığınız yönünde oldu.
