Quiet retreat on crowded football weekend
We stayed here when we visited for a Penn State football game. The house and property were a quiet retreat from the very chaotic and hectic college environment after the game. Beautiful hiking at the state park down the road. Nice place to disconnect (no WiFi) and unwind. In game day traffic it took 45 min to get to and from the parking deck we parked at. It was a chilly November weekend, but the cabin was nice & warm with all the built in heaters and temperature control.

Great weekend getaway
Was a wonderful place for the wife and I to get away for the weekend. Had everything we needed to hangout and relax. Has some unique charm. Definitely want to come back during the warmer months to take advantage of the front porch and bald eagle being so close by.

Exactly as advertised
This is a great getaway. Life was getting very stressful. We had people pulling us in all different directions. It seemed like a moments peace was too much to ask for. This getaway took us out of the rat race for a while and just put us in the peace of a slow calm. When we wanted to speed up State College is not too far. Loved it. Definitely needed.

Magical place!
Came here to read, write, rest and to meet someone special. Fell in love and now am engaged! We walked the country roads lit up by fireflies and stars and ate in the spacious kitchen / living room and talked all night and hiked forests and waterfalls and rain on the tin roof one night was magnificent!

Couples cabin
We had a wonderful time at this cozy cabin. Peace and quiet, nothing fancy, the yard is pretty private and nice for a little fire for two. We said several times how much we'd love to come back, as long as that bed gets a new mattress. Honestly, I'm not picky about things but we woke up with aches and pains every morning. It is literally the only complaint we have and absolutely loved our stay otherwise.

Cozy Cabin for 2
We were pleasantly surprised as we pulled in to the property. I don’t feel the listing photo does the cabin justice. It is lit up with string lights, giving it a charming look. As we stepped inside it was noticeably clean. It had everything you needed in the kitchen. The bedroom had tons of storage which we didn’t really need. We were only there for the White Out game Friday-Sunday. There were plenty of heating units to keep you warm. I’m guessing it gets pretty cold in the winter. The only thing, which we understand is personal preference, was the firmness of the bed. It was extra firm which made it a bit uncomfortable to sleep. The bathroom was stocked with plenty of towels. The kitchen had a coffee maker with all the fix-ins. We enjoyed the porch and looking at the beautiful fall colors that surrounded us. It was very charming and cozy.

The cabin was quaint and exactly what I anticipated. I stayed there after long days at horse shows at the Clinton County fairgrounds. It was great to come back and relax after the day. The clean and quiet cabin was relaxing and enjoyable. I will look to book it again next year.

Perfect Getaway
We stayed at the little cabin for my husband's birthday week. We are history buffs so we visited several sites. Heisey House, Taber Museum, Bellefonte, Curtin and Boalsburg. The little cabin was close enough to all of this yet far enough away to not be in the bustle.

Beautiful Cabin and Area
My girlfriend and I came to Blanchard for a Valentine's Day getaway and could not have picked a better place to stay. The owner replied quickly and courteously. The bare wood and decorations were quaint and cozy; combined with the amenities and cleanliness it was a true home away from home. It even kept us warm despite a snow squall and subsequently freezing weather. If you want to escape into a small, rural town (without sacrificing any amenities) this is the place!

Incredible and beautiful
First, I want to address the "mold" issue for all the next people that are interested in this listing. I have not been asked to write this review nor has Cathy influenced this in any way. Simply put, there is none! My girlfriend has severe allergies to any type of pollen/mold but was perfectly fine and had no reactions of any sort. Now that that is out of the way - I am not the type of person to leave reviews but felt compelled to do so because that is how much we enjoyed our stay. The place is situated in a quaint neighborhood? (probably not the best word to describe it as the next "door" houses are few and far in between with plenty of trees in between). It is calming, peaceful, and most importantly - incredibly quiet. The cabin itself is very rustic but has all of the conveniences of modern life! The heating was incredible - even though it was very cold outside, we were toasty and warm. The decor was very stylish and it honestly made me feel like I was transported back to the 1900's log-style cabin. Very cozy, the kitchen was well equipped and simple to use, all appliances worked great. The bedroom is large and the bed was quite comfortable with lots of closet space as well. The bathroom was clean and ample towels were provided as well. In short - do not hesitate to book this out for your getaway! Bald Eagle State Mountain is absolutely breathtaking and only a 10 minute drive away

Nice quiet area
The location was nice but generally removed from a lot of things that my spouse and I are used to. This place is beautiful and among one of the most relaxing places I've ever been to. The local shops and attractions in the small town are nice too. We would love to come back annually if we can.

OVERPOWERING MOLD/MUST SMELL
We arrived to the property after long drive and the first thing that greeted us was horrible mold/must smell. I kept front door open for a while and hoped that would fix the problem, but unfortunately did NOT. Stink continued. As I was extremely tired I quickly fell asleep just to wake up with trouble in my throat and running eyes. My body reacted badly to the mold in the cabin and we had to get out of that place as soon as possible. We planned to spend nice long (3 days) weekend in that cabin, but cabin was killing me. The cabin is not insulated well or at all so the front part of the cabin was too cold to utilize for anything. We closed the door and stayed in a back part where there were space heaters available. I was little nervous using space heater in the bedroom so tried to sleep without it, but after while as I started to shiver I turned it on and then I was o.k. Room where there is a bed does not have walls up to the ceiling (if anybody wants privacy). The bed is very high of the floor and is extremely hard. I liked it, but my poor husband walk up with pains and aches. Pillows were adequate, however there were not pleasant polyester pillow covers that I couldn't sleep on. In the bathroom there is no soap in the shower, but for me it didn't matter as I couldn't get hot water. The owner informed that there is hot water but that shower plumbing was incorrectly installed and that hot water is on the rights side. I had both sides open, but still did not get hot water. There are quality bath towels that I didn't have a chance to use, but they look very absorbing and soft. There is a nice fire place, but owners forbid the use of it. There is a TV, but there are no instructions how to use it :-( . It seems that there are enough of dishes for anybody's stay. The owner has a good supply of teas, coffee and sugar. The own expect guest to take care of rubbish even though I think that should be included in the price. Cabin (warm part) feels homey, but the mold issue has to be taken care of as somebody with worse allergies might actually die there. I was lucky as my symptoms were not as bad as could have been. I am expecting a refund.

Lovely little cabin
The photos posted don’t do it justice. It’s cozier and somewhat bigger than it looks. Communication with the owner was fantastic. She was very responsive and caring. Property was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and very cute. We used the backyard fire pit. What a great fall weekend in the woods!
