We didn't have any towels on the second night of our stay and asked someone where can we get some more. They pretty much said that on the weekends, it's fend for yourselves as there's no organization/no weekend staff. Maybe a good idea to get more employees or up the organization on weekends. Apart from that it was really nice, cozy, quiet and we felt safe. We'll definitely try to book again when we come back to Nova Scotia

Thank you for your feedback. We regret to hear you were not aware of the guest towel closets on each floor. As noted in our pre arrival emails, we are a self-service facility and guests are provided with extra towels and sheets in the linen closets located on each floor. Guests can take as many towels as they like when they need a replacement.

Good location - walkable to everything you need. The duvet was quite dirty and it would be good if basic toiletries (ie soap) was provided.

When booking on Expedia was very unclear that this is actually a student residence shared bathrooms, and nothing in the room, except the bed in the lamp. Description Expedia sounds more like a hotel rather than a single room residence with shared amenities

We’re sorry to hear that you were unaware you booked a room in a student hostel with shared bathrooms. This information is provided clearly on Expedia. The room title on Expedia is “Double Room, 1 Double Bed, Shared Bathroom”. The automated welcome email that was sent to you through Expedia on April 19 also explicitly noted that this is a student dormitory residence with private rooms and shared bathrooms.

The passcode system was glitchy to enter the building when we first arrived. There was no one in the office, so text messaging had to be used. That incurred a long wait and we weren't sure if were getting in. Those issues could attributed to the fact we online reserved the afternoon before, less than 24 hours. There was construction on Granville adjacent to the building. We were out all day so that didn't bother us.

It was a very clean and hygienic place . The bathrooms and lounges were all fantastic especially. I faced a lot of trouble trying to check in . It was some technical error with their system. I had to wait for 1 hr for them to fix the error in the door code . But they were very polite and helpful and fixed it although it took some time. Apart from the check in , which I think normally doesn't happen with them , I loved the place. <3

Granville Hall was smack dab in the middle of downtown Halifaz. Everything we wanted to see or do was usually only a 10 minute walk away including the Citadel, the Wharf, Harbour Hopper and so much more! There is tons of food options around or bring your own to cook in the full kitchen. Bathrooms were always clean. The only problem we experienced was the plug in kept falling out of the wall so the fan wouldn't stay on during the night. And the chair for the desk needed some screws, but it wasn't dangerous, you just couldn't lift it well. Be prepared to walk and the third stairwell is a little narrow with luggae. Otherwise, an amazing stay. We felt safe with multiple security pins and the other peoppe in the dorm were friendly.

The accommodation was great. Good room with mini fridge, super clean everywhere, nice showers, kitchen on every floor and comfy lounge with smart tv. Right in the city centre close to the waterfront and many cafes and bars. But the communication and check in were awful. Pretty much impossible to get a hold of someone on the phone even during office hours and thankfully we met someone from house keeping who could help us with the check in as we hadn’t received the needed email to get our codes. Altogether a comfy stay for a night or more but as everything around Canada rather expensive for what you get.

Very happy with our recent stay here, keeping in mind this is university housing accommodation with shared bathrooms, 2 per floor - each floor has 12 rooms. No AC in rooms but windows open & fan is provided. Very quiet in the building but there is construction currently being down nearby. Location in downtown Halifax is excellent but parking around facility is pricey but that’s the case regardless of where you stay.

Loved finding an affordable downtown option. It is a dormitory. The room is small and not big on comfort items. But it is clean, there is a big shared kitchen fully stocked and it is close to all the downtown places you'd want to go.

If you’re a light sleeper this may not be the best option if you need a good nights rest. At night the sounds of doors opening and closing can be easily heard. Location is great and the price is good for what you’re receiving (clean facilities, a private room, contactless check-in). I will note that I did observe some pest traps set up in the room I stayed in (it would seem that many of the older buildings in downtown Halifax have their challenges with pests like ants and mice). Overall, it was a pleasant stay for a very affordable price.

Only stayed one night, but the small room was perfectly fine, given the price point. The shared bathroom and kitchen facilities were both clean and the entertainment lounge was great, including a nice big TV. Would definitely stay here again. The only negative was the small beds, which aren't long enough for anyone over 6 feet tall.

There’s no ac at this property. It was a really hot weekend in Halifax and they only have ac in the common areas so a lot of the guests staying J’s their room doors cracked open. Laundry is also not available for short stays. Other than that, Granville hall is pretty cheap considering how much other accommodations cost in the area. It’s very clean considering the washrooms are shared. The cleaning ladies are super efficient and nice.

Although the common areas were air conditioned, the room was not (although the electric fan helped a bit with the heat/humidity). The TV lounge was awesome, with a large TV and access to many services. Note that soap/shampoo typically provided by hotels are not available at Granville Hall, so you will need to bring your own.

Great place. Excellent price for being so close to the water. Walking distance to alot of places. I would stay again. Only issue the room gets hot and stuffy. A/C would be nice. There was a fan in the room which helped. The common room, kitchen and washrooms had a/c so was comfortable.
