What an unexpected surprise it was to discover a Relais & Chateaux property in gritty, industrialized Guayaquil! It is by far the most expensive hotel in the city, but after experiencing the sumptuous accommodations, fine dining, serene setting, and gracious hospitality firsthand, the rates are certainly justified. The hotel’s location is both its strong suit and its drawback. It is just fifteen minutes from the airport, which is super convenient for the majority of guests who are just using Guayaquil as a jumping-off point to the Galapagos. It’s a 20-minute taxi ride from the city, in a suburb called Samborondon, so it is quiet and safe. The hotel is promoted as being situated inside Parque Colonial, but as a park or a public garden…it is bleak and rundown. There are few flowers in bloom, the greenery is overgrown, and the paths are in need of repair. There are some dusty old buildings with creepy mannequins inside attempting to recreate colonial times, but it’s crudely executed. We didn’t bother going into the zoo, as from what we could see through the trees, it too has been neglected. Our room was huge and exceptionally comfortable, with 12-foot ceilings and two televisions. Room service is fantastic too. Hotel Del Parque is the jewel of Guayaquil. I highly recommend splurging on a stay here for those who want to begin (or end) their trip to the Galapagos in style, or those who want to experience Guayaquil from a cocoon of luxury and world-class hospitality.

Great hotel and safe in the neighborhood of Sanborondon. Safe gated entry to the park and areas around the hotel. I stay with a girlfriend and felt pretty safe. The restaurant is walking distance and the views are beautiful ❤️

We love this hotel!
In Guayaquil, we always stay at the Parque. The staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful, attached to a National Park. The restaurant on grounds is good but expensive. They do have a second option of an outdoor cafe/restaurant on grounds that has excellent food and service that os more reasonable. The area is very safe and many nights we walked to the food court that has multiple, delicious restaurants as well as the mall area with great choices too!

This hotel is in a beautiful historic building and lovely rooms. The staff were helpful but it was a bit isolated with difficulties in getting transport to visit things. The food was disappointing at the connected restaurant but better in the pretty courtyard. The staff were helpful in finding me tea bags!

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! It’s a renovated hospice and every detail has been attended to. The showers were large and wonderful! The staff is courteous and friendly. Everything is very up to date and the entire property is very clean. The morning buffet is 5 star and so is the adjoining restaurant. Be sure to check out the beautiful chapel in the hotel! Also the hotel is right next door to a National Park with live animals. Definitely would stay again!

Unique? Yes. Room very dark and all very old fashioned. Animals in park have no room to move. The pens are the size of match boxes. Not good for the animals.

Loved the fact that the hotel was so isolated and was "connected" to the nature park. The restaurant (for dinner) was excellent, and the hotel buffet (for breakfast) was as well. The staff was all extremely attentive, too.

Even if Guayaquil was not our favorite city in Ecuador, our stay at Hotel del Parque (and dinner at Casa Julian) has been extremely pleasant. The hotel is beautiful, totally in agreement with the Relais et Chateaux chain they are part of. Worldclass boutique hotel
This is a jewel in the most unlikely place. We were guided by our trust in the Relais Chateau brand and were not disappointed. We upgraded to the superior room and it was one of the best hotel rooms we experienced in our lifetime. On the morning of our departure we wanted to tour Guayaquil but it was pouring. So we just stayed in the hotel, enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast, our huge room with the huge bath and the beautiful covered courtyards ... Our only regret was that we didn't know about it on the inbound trip to the Galapagos ...

Oasis in a peaceful setting. It feels like a Southern Plantation. We stayed here 3 nights and every detail was perfect. Helpful and genteel staff. Superb restaurant on site. I did not want to check out, but the Galapagos Islands were awaiting us.

Rooms have tall ceilings and an open layout, the biggest shower I've ever seen or been in, and a "lemonade making station" that was incredibly good and refreshing after traveling.

An oasis in Guayquil
This hotel was a lovely experience and made the transfer to and from the Galapagos a pleasurable experience. The area where hotel is located is serene, peaceful, calm. The hotel has beautiful internal gardens, gorgeous rooms and marble bathrooms. Also a special lounge with an "honesty" bar. Included in the rate is an afternoon tea served in the orchid garden. The exercise room has basic, but quality equipment for strength or aerobic training. It is not all that far from the airport, but time depends on traffic. Taxis should cost no more than USD20, though if you book through hotel it is USD20 per person. The advantage of this hotel is that it is away from hustle and bustle allowing you to relax. It is located in a popular zoological park and we had a nice stroll through the grounds viewing native Ecuadorian animals and birds. We also had a delightful dinner at the nearby Cafe Jardin; the expense was justified by the atmosphere, service and food. After our Galapagos cruise, everyone continued on to other destinations But we looked forward to returning to the hotel as it reset our dials for our onward journey.
