The General's Hideaway is a newly renovated vacation rental opened in late May of 2017 in Gettysburg's wine country. As you enter the General you will immediately feel welcomed by an expansive open floor plan spanning the living room with ample seating for your whole family along with a pool table for extra fun. Walking further you will start to enter the original structure that has been around for over 100 years. The historic wood walls and flooring have stood the test of time since the original structure of the carriage house. Decorated with eclectic decor and comfortable furniture you'll instantly feel relaxed. The kitchen has a wonderfully large kitchen island that up to six people can sit at. The General has a full size refrigerator, microwave, full size four burner oven, coffee pot for 10, toaster, and fully stocked glasses, wine glasses, and dinnerware. The dining room has seating for 5+ and you can add in the leaf for the table and seat more. The bathroom (located on the first floor due to the historic value) has a small stall shower with plenty of Egyptian cotton towels, a hand towel, and washcloths to use during your stay. From there you can start your journey upstairs via an all wood stairwell opening up to the second floor. As you take in the original historic wood walls you will be lead into a sitting room that houses a daybed, two 4' memory foam fold away guest twin beds if needed, and alternate seating. Each of the two bedrooms on this floor have a queen comfortable bed with luxurious bedding. We take great pride in our bedding and offer only the finest sheets and comforters along with pillows. Think of it as a five-star sleeping experience Each bedroom has reading lights, mirrors, suitcase luggage racks, and places to hang up your clothing. The entire upstairs is has all wood walls and floors. This gives the ambiance of a less bright tranquil appearance. We do have ample lights however this will not be Bright lights against white walls and ceilings. We love for our guests to pack as light as possible so we offer shampoo, body wash, spare toothbrushes, razors, toothpaste, shaving cream, make up wipes removers, hairdryers, and much more! The general also has a full-size washer and dryer available to use with complementary detergent and fabric softener with dryer sheets. To make it more convenient we offer the highest speed Wi-Fi in the area and outlets that your USB cables can be plugged into The General's yard makes up 1 acre with plenty of parking. Their is a wonderful six person dining table outside with umbrella. We also provide a fire pit and charcoal grill for hanging out at night under the stars The General is located 7 miles from downtown Gettysburg in the wine country which takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to get to town. Hauser winery, Adams County winery, and Reeds winery are just a short five minutes away. We are located one block off of Route 30 which connects you with Highway 15 or Highway 81 getting you to Hershey in an hour, DC in an 1 hour and 15 minutes, or to Landcaster. This intersection serves as a main traffic area for local apple orchard trucks. The rental is located in the countryside however as it is One block off of the main intersection there will be traffic noise. We welcome your stay and look forward to hosting you in Gettysburg's most unique rental!
