The cottage is charming, clean, quiet, and well-stocked. We like to stay in the country instead of cities, but centrally located to visit sites. This cottage fit the bill.
Clean, cozy, comfortable. Charming cottage in a farm setting appointed with everything you need . The farm fresh eggs, milk, bread and butter were a super nice touch. We stayed three nights
The stay was great! Sonia has done a fantastic job restoring the cottage and making it into a comfortable home. Both our girls loved the loft bedroom. The setting was great providing both peace and quiet and easy access to Limerick. Sonia was also readily reachable throughout the stay ensuring everything went well. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay.
This cottage is the perfect spot to relax and cozy up with your partner. It's lovingly restored with the right amount of modern touches. The kitchen has everything you need, the bed is comfortable, and the showers have hot water and strong pressure. If you're looking for a special spot in a peaceful, secluded area, this is the one! I loved every moment of this stay and would have stayed for months if I could.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. If you are looking for an authentic Irish countryside stay- look no further! The place was very clean, cute, and was supplied with everything we needed to enjoy our 2 night stay ( including pots, pans, soap and paper products)
Communication was amazing and quick and this is centrally located to so many tourist attractions!
I will note 1 of the bedrooms is a bit on the shorter side, so if you are tall, you have to duck- but other than that - absolutely lovely!!
What a beautiful, private, comfortable peaceful and so many positive adjectives I could use to describe our stay. We went to bed with no siren and traffic sounds from the city and woke up with the songs of birds. Recommend this place for people who need a get away from the hustling of a busy life. The hostess was more than accommodating.
This cottage is a lovingly restored slice of rural Ireland at its best. Stepping through the door is like stepping back in time - and yet all the modern conveniences have been added in unobtrusive ways. The space is beautiful, warm, and inviting. Sleeping up in the loft is a magical experience, listening to the birds as you fall asleep. The property is beautiful, surrounded by gorgeous scenery. I look forward to staying there again soon!
When we were planning our trip to Ireland, we knew we wanted to experience a bit of everything; which of course included a thatched roof cottage on a farm, and The New Thatched Cottage was absolutely perfect. We felt like we were transported back in time while still having everything modern that we needed right there. The grounds were beautiful. The horses were so sweet, and the cabin was perfectly cozy and comfortable. Our only hiccup was the slippery wood just outside the shed. I took a little tumble and banged up my knee, but I’m alright. Overall, I would love to stay here again and again… and just avoid that wood step 😅 Thank you so much for making our Irish cottage dreams come true!

Pretty cottage but mixed experience
The property is in stunning countryside & has a flat, well-cut lawn - ideal for our two dogs. The bed in the downstairs bedroom is comfortable & the shower hot & powerful. However, there were negatives of our stay which Sonia’s acknowledged efforts to give dog walking options & to ease departure didn’t wholly ameliorate.-We had the cottage’s Eircode & the code for the electric gate, but not where to find the keys.-Once inside we were assaulted by the smell of frying. The kitchen seemed covered in a film of grease, including the microwave’s interior.-Segregating rubbish into appropriate categories would be helped by providing separate containers rather than 1 black sack & food waste caddy.-Laminated signs & Post-it notes all over the house told us that all switches & sockets must be turned off when not in use and that heating & lock settings must remain unchanged (the latter being enforced by Sellotape on both door locks). Sonia has probably had bad experiences with guests, but 1 or 2 signs would do.-Sonia has expenses to cover to maintain her property (largely tax deductible?), but the cost of a week in New Thatch Farm is twice that of larger/better equipped holiday cottages.I know that we are not the 1st to write a negative review (Catalina Aug 2022 & Yohanan Oct 2022 on another booking website), but we hope that this review is taken in the spirit intended. So future guests can enjoy this historic cottage & that Sonia’s life is as stress-free as possible.
We enjoyed staying in this cottage. The location was perfectly central to all of the places that we wanted to see in the area. Our kids really enjoyed the loft! The property itself was very quiet and beautifully maintained with lovely flowers…very peaceful!
We had a lovely time and the Cottage was incredible. Sonia was extremely helpfully and a wonderful host. Limerick countryside is beautiful and we can’t wait to visit again.
This property is a gem! Sonia has meticulously updated this authentically Irish farm house with a perfect balance of modern convenience and rustic charm. Worked perfectly for our party of 4 adults just wish we could’ve stayed another night or 2. There’s so much to see in the area but I promise you’ll have trouble leaving the property. Thanks for the beautiful memories, Sonia!
This cottage is so authentic from the beautiful well kept grounds, the thatched roof and so many thoughtful details. If you are looking for a truly Irish escape this is the place for you. The host so kindly helped us with a change in travel plans, even left us some fresh eggs and authentic Irish bread, butter and jam. the house is so thoughtfully updated and outfitted. Everywhere you turn there is something delightful to look at or to read. We sadly had to cut our stay short. If we have the opportunity to return to Ireland this house will be high on our list of lovely places to stay.
My only problem was we were only there for one night. It is charming and we had a lovely time watching the cows. The house was larger then we expected. Definitely worth a visit and O’Neill’s is the coolest hardware store & worth the short drive down the road.
Wow! This place is absolutely amazing. It is a beautiful renovation that takes you back in time. The property and the countryside and the garden are magnificent. It is a little bit off the beaten path but it is exactly what we were looking for. It is 10 minute drive to town ,grocery store, and restaurants. Beds were very comfortable. Sonia was an amazing host and brought us eggs from her own chickens. Good communication with host. We had a discrepancy in the booking details ( which i think was probably my fault)but Sonia was very accommodating. If I could give this place a six star I would. If you can fit this into your road trip itenerary, you absolutely should.
