Rustic, friendly Inn.
Room was clean, but small. barely get around king sized bed. I would have preferred a queen with a little more room. Nice friendly , rustic atmosphere. Common area on riverfront with firepit. My husband missed air conditioning, but I thought it was comfortable without.

Super friendly owner and cozy motel
It is a motel so we got to park right in front of our room. The room was nice and comfy. Wifi was poor but this was expected in the mountains. Nice touches such as the towels and toilet paper folded, graham crackers with teddy bears and chocolates sprinkled around, and a bear shaped bar of soap. Loved the s'mores, swings and the river. Owner was welcoming and chatty.

Even though it is old, I liked the character of Black Bear Inn. Sometimes I like to steer away from the typical hotel, and stay at locally owned places. It felt homey and cozy to me, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Great staff old building
The service was wonderful! However, this is an old building without air conditioning. The staff could not have been friendlier. Tgey were fantastic.

Unplug, unwind, and find your happy place
This place is magical! From one-of-a-kind ambiance, to nightly smores round the campfire, its truly a unique experience. Each room has a theme and stories to back them up, to which the owner loves to share (one of the nicest gals ever). Its truly a family affair here! Layout is like a motel with free parking right outside your door. No cable but plenty of old school vhs rentals available in the office (for FREE, plus popcorn to make in your room too) and excellent wi-fi for your personal devices. Nothing too fancy here... just old fashioned rustic charm that will remind you of days gone by and fill your heart with joy. So unplug, unwind, dip your feet in the stream, and enjoy!! Oh, and look out for the occasional traveling musicians cause they just may break out their guitar and share a few songs for ya come sundown ;-)

Great stay
Do not let the looks deceive you. It is an older hotel but the charm alone is worrh the stay. My wife and I live in Las Vegas and are accustomed to fancy hotels, but we loved the rustic nature of this motel. The room was exceptionally clean and homie and Liz the owner was very welcoming and made sure our stay was enjoyable.if your anywhere near Dubois Wy and want a comfortable, charming motel don't pass up the black bear in.

Home away from home
Friendly, welcoming owner as we arrived later in the evening. Room was smaller, but comfortable. Didn’t have as many electric outlets as newer motels, but we managed. No breakfast provided (e knew that when we booked), but nice table and chairs to eat our breakfast we brought. Everything was clean and seemed like staying at your mom’s home! Stayed here once a number of years ago and would stay again. Easy trip once we left Yellowstone.

GREAT STAY at BLACK BEAR INN
The Black Bear Inn is a charming multi-generational family run motel right on the Wind River. We loved it and it is run by great people. The flyshop is a great bonus! Highly recommend both.

Great night in western Wyoming
We were there just one night on our way to Idaho. It was a perfect place to spend the evening. My husband and son went on a flyfishing trip with a guide that does free flyfishing lessons daily in the parking lot at 5:00pm. My daughter and I were able to walk the downtown and had a wonderful meal at the Cowboy Cafe. The Black Bear Inn offered a campfire with s'mores and games at 8:00pm. The office had a lot of items, from movies and games, to books, to give you something to do in your downtown. We would stay there again.

Great place
This is a hotel that is very cared for by the owner. The room was homey, not a hotel room. The owner was friendly and professional. Plus they had a fire and smores everynight of our stay. 10/10 will stay again.

We do have free killer wifi as Google stayed here for the eclipse and we upgraded everything in preparation. Sorry if you didn't get that information. Best kept secret
beyond friendly staff - Liz was informative and kind. Great location, right on the river. After 2 different local kennels fell through with doggie day care on the day we were going to Yellowstone, Liz offered a family member to walk our 2 dogs. So lucky to find this property. No air conditioning but the area's climate did not require air. We truly enjoyed our stay away from the big corporate properties.

We only stayed on night at Black Bear Inn, but we were really loved it. The owner was there to greet us, even though we had arrived late, and she was one of the most pleasant people I've ever met. She was friendly, helpful, and made our stay very enjoyable. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Checking out was easy, and quick.

Great property with unique features. Excellent, friendly and responsive staff. Easy check in/out and fun time with the nightly offering of smores at the firepit down at the river. Large room with spacious beds and lots of great amenities including coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge. Liz brought in a space heater to ensure we were comfortable since it was still a bit chilly and the heating system was being updated. We were cozy, comfy and had a great night's rest.

Very cute & quaint. Great hostess. Creatively decorated. Comfy bed. No cable but excellent wifi. S'mores at riverside every night by campfire. You can even learn to fly-fish. Highly recommend.

The owner has thought of everything possible to make it an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Loved the bear decor, this is a happy place that embraces it's individuality instead of cookie cutter formulas of the chain hotels.

Smores at night
A very nice little hotel on the doorsteps on Yellowstone. Management very nice, family owned and run. Rooms nicely furnished with cute little additions like cookies and candy. Strange bathroom layout and electrical outlets a bit challenging. No television, which was no big deal. Free videos in office, as in hundreds of them. Each evening smores are prepared (well, you have to cook your own, but the fixings are free) down near the river's edge.

A one of a kind relic
This is a delightful hotel which is well maintained and has excellent service. You'll find the care-takers are very approachable and overall readily there for you. This is a nice stay for anyone looking to do activities in the area. We went to Yellowstone and this hotel worked perfected.

Worst stay ever!!!
This hotel is so outdated!!! No cable service, no AC and there was lots of bugs! We were glad that we only booked one night because it would have been horrible if we had to spend another night in this hotel,

We are so sad you didn't enjoy your stay with us. I so wish you would have told us of your concerns. We are at 6800 feet above sea level and there are only a few days per year AC would be needed. It is in the 40s at night and 70s in the days currently. We have no cable by choice. We make s'mores by the river nightly and have recently upgraded our internet services so everyone could be streaming at the same time.
