Excellent hotel and location
Lovely hotel and location. All staff helpful, breakfast excellent. Opposite harbour to get the boat around the lake. Food options good in the area and not expensive.

Excellent location, just across road from lake ferry, rooms facing lake are superb, the waiter serving drinks to us all week was very attentive, and lots of places to eat within 5 minutes walk. The breakfast in the hotel was really good, didn't take lunch or evening meals in the hotel as we like to venture out, but the dining room is in an ideal location facing the lake. The walk back to the train station, although only 15-20 minutes walk, is all uphill and a taxi to take us there with our cases was difficult to find on the day of leaving. The reception manageress was kind enough to take us there in her own car (a 5 minute drive). All in all, it's definitely a place I would visit again and well worth the 5 stars.

The beauty of the restored1824 building was just amazing. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The hotel location in town center area. The room large with a balcony looking out over lake de Garda.It was wonderful.

The location is great and very central. We booked lake view rooms but unfortunately the view was blocked by trees. The rooms are quite outdated and not worth the price. The staff were wonderful and very helpful.

We had to stay longer due to my husband being poorly. The night porter was extremely helpful when we needed an ambulance. Hotel staff even collected us from the local hospital and take us back to the hotel. Fantastic service when we needed help.

I like the location and how the hotel looks from the outside. I did not like the interior of the hotel. The rooms are old and not appropriate for a 4-star hotel, not even for a 3-star hotel. I would never have expected the non-existent decoration of the corridors and common areas of the room floors. Neither the outdated floor tiles. The price they charge was for a 4-star superior and that's what get me upset. Breakfast was ok, average for hotels in the region. The location is what makes this hotel unique. but it doesn't feel luxurious, the lobby is the only area that gives this type of feeling, but also needs a renovation, they can keep the old style but please spend the money you making from these expensive rooms.

Fabulous Hotel Mayer & Splendid
Our recent stay at the Hotel Mayer & Splendid was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They upgraded us to include a visit to the hotel spa, which was really relaxing. The hotel is really well situated in the centre of Desenzano, near all the restaurants and bars and across from the ferry stop, so easy for trips across the lake. The hotel is family owned. It isn’t a very modern hotel in many ways, although we find that is common in many parts of Italy. However, the marble staircases and so on give it a real charm. We stayed in a 3 person family superior room, which was more than enough for the time that you spend in the room when on holiday. It had a nice view over to the lake. The guests were a mix of nationalities, including lots of Italians visiting, which was a great sign of how well the hotel is regarded. There is a small cafe attached to the hotel which appeared to be owned by the hotel itself although it wasn’t accessed from the hotel. The cafe was nice for a quiet drink until he afternoon or evening, watching the people go by. Desenzano, and Lake Garda generally, was a lovely place for a holiday, and we would highly recommend Hotel Mayer & Splendid. We needed to leave early on the last day, and the hotel offered to make us some breakfast packs to take with us for the journey, which was a nice touch. We would definitely go back.

Do not stay here.
Location absolutely brilliant. Breakfast too. Room substandard with holes and cracks all over the wall. The room next door looked much better and more recently refurbished. The gym was just some equipment in room 118 and 119! Disappointing.

we booked triple room water front room 2 months before arrival. when we arrived there, we were given a regular room without water view. when we asked why, they said the expedia sent wrong booking, When we called Expedia, Expedia said that was not true at all and explained why, we found the hotel is dishonest on giving away the room we booked. We won't be going back again,

Good breakfast and location but..........
The hotel looked and felt tired. The sheets didn't seem to feel clean and crisp. The television didn't work and neither did the telephone when I tried to call the front desk to ask about the television. Breakfast was good though and the location was excellent, right in front of the ferry port. If returning to Desenzano, I would likely choose a different hotel.

A little piece of heaven in Lago do Garda ❤️
We were pleasantly surprised with this charming little hotel by the lake. The location was A+++ The staff was charming and helpful always. The rooms were a little small, but clean and well equipped. The bathrooms were new and clean. The room view was delightful. Breakfast included a nice selection of pastries, meats, cheeses, breads and fruits and was included every morning…

Amazing place
The hotel is in an excellent central location. Stayed in a suite, room was spacious with very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom with double sinks, balcony had perfect views of the lake, only improvement would be if the balcony floor was tiled, breakfast was great with a large variety of food, the staff were friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend this property in beautiful Desenzano

Be very wary if you book an economy room. We booked a family economy room and were put in and end of corridor room with no view other than a nasty looking "courtyard". The hotel deemed this eyesore as a feature. We beg to differ and in all honesty it soured our entire stay as we had to stay out of the hotel room as much as possible WiFi not very good in the room nor the grouting in the bathroom. Not worth the price of 880 euros. After much discussion the management reluctantly reduced the room cost by 80 euro which is not much considering the upset it caused us Customer satisfaction seems to be a very low priority which is a great shame as the location is fantastic. The breakfast staff and cleaning staff are fantastic. .Breakfast sets you up very nicely for the day.Lots of variety and wonderful juices and coffees.

This hotel is fantastic. Great location, near the boats to take you anywhere, and right in the heart of town. The square next to the hotel is the place to be in the evenings so it's nice to be right there. Staff is great, easily accommodating and will hold the heavy room key so you don't need to carry it around.

Nice little hotel - fantastic location
Two friends on a 50th birthday road trip. Location is excellent - just across from the marina and close to all amenities. Our room was a little basic but we weren't spending much time in the hotel anyway.

Arrival spoilt by car park being 400 metres from hotel. Front desk staff were great, and most helpful. Room was dated, small but spotlessly clean. We arrived late but restaurant happy to serve us with terrific pizza. Overall great location and very helpful staff.

Good location but shabby
Stayed four days. Staff - especially receptionists were superb and couldn't do enough for you. Place very tired looking inside and out. Location excellent and had room with lovely lake view. Bathroom lovely, although towels very thin. Room dark dated furniture and bed uncomfortable and pillows very hard. Used blanket one night as it was chilly and it had loads of long hair strands on it. Breakfast good.

Lovely hotel in perfect position for everything.
Hotel very old and rooms full of character. The hotel staff were probably the nicest and most helpful people we have come across. The position of the hotel is right in the center and directly opposite ferry, which made travelling around the lake very easy.
