Gorgeous, historic property with comfortable rooms. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. A daily breakfast buffet that offers something for everyone in a beautiful setting. Gardens are the best Carmel has to offer. Two features that need improvement: please offer “real” in room coffee - not instant powdered stuff!! And please provide instruction in operation of in room temperature controls - hard to use this! Thanks for a lovely stay in a sublime hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend, and we were immediately impressed by the welcoming atmosphere upon our arrival. Don at the front desk assisted us, and his knowledge of the area, along with his friendly demeanor, made us feel right at home. The room was made with thoughtful details that enhanced the atmosphere. Although I typically prefer more modern hotels, this experience was one of the most enjoyable I have had. The breakfast was also delicious, adding to the overall positive experience.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and we absolutely loved it. The staff was nice and helpful and we loved how they offered so many treats throughout our stay. They serve complimentary wine late afternoon/early evening and freshly baked cookies in the evening. Their complimentary champagne breakfast is amazing! We were super impressed with the different options they had and everything was delicious. I also love how they can make you pretty much any coffee beverage you’d like. The grounds is beautiful and walking distance to the beach. They also offer shuttle service from 5 pm- 11pm but if you opt to walk to Ocean Ave for dinner, it’s just a short walk away. Highly recommended this hotel! Look forward to our next visit!

We loved everything about the La Playa! Celebrated our daughter’s wedding and can’t wait to be back to enjoy more time there. The most favorite things by far-the location and beautiful grounds etc. and the staff. So incredibly professional, helpful, and gracious!

The hotel is in a wonderful location in the outskirts of Carmel by the sea. It’s a small boutique hotel. The lobby has a lounge area and a fireplace. It is somewhat expensive. When you check in, you are offered some tastes of various local wines. We checked in on Sunday and there was a jazz trio in the bar, which was great fun. They serve chocolate chip cookies at 7:30 every evening In the lobby. The beds are great. The buffet breakfast in the morning which is included in the hotel price is amazing. We did this to celebrate my partners 80th birthday and we had a great time.

If it’s location, you’re looking for this is it. Two blocks from the Main St., Ocean Avenue and two blocks from the ocean beach. A beautiful old style hotel with Restaurant. The pool is warm maybe even a bit too warm but then we went at the end of March. Parking may be a challenge but doable. Definitely a five star hotel$$$

The La Playa Hotel is THE place to stay in Carmel! The staff is friendly, the convenience to downtown is ideal, the history and fine touches around the hotel are amazing, and the cookies are delicious! Thank you for making are stay so memorable - we hope to be back soon!

The breakfast, thee ambiance and the overall experience was very good. It is pet friendly. Everything is very good. The only drwaback was that the room was very small. Not too much of an issues since we spent very little time in the room.

Our experience was substantially diminished due to the power outage that occurred during the majority of our stay due to the severe storms. I know it was not the fault of the hotel but I would have expected an offer to discount our stay due to the inconvenience. Also the TV never worked and I was put on hold for a long time and finally hung up without resolution. On a positive note, Michael the person who greeted us on arrival, made our dinner reservations and drove us and returned us to the hotel is a La Playa treasure!!!

We paid top price for this hotel, over $900 dollars per night, then at checkout they hit us with another $60 per night for so called amenities for breakfast, and parking when it street parking. Unbelievable! We have stayed here numerous times and never charged an additional $60 per night. We will never stay here again.
