They have a mash up theme of Scottish, Cuban and inspired by 70's punk and it is carried out in plaid accents and dark green walls and such. There is a common space on each floor with a kettle for hot water, a coffee maker, and on demand cold water and seltzer and some biscuits. Lovely. Two things I found difficult is that there is a narrow desk/console table and two small mirrored night tables and an ottoman. For our three night stay it was difficult to unpack anything or even sit in a single chair. Would love them to add a few shelves or a furniture with a couple drawers to make it more comfortable to "use" the room a little more effectively.

The interior has very young and chic feel to it, unconventional from your average hotel or bnb. Area around the place is very lively, lots of shops and places to eat and drink. Since I stayed on weekdays noise wasn’t an issue but, I would expect it to be louder on the weekends. Overall loved the vibe of the place!

Location: Excellent location. Five minutes to metro. Ten minutes to a park. Endless food options just outside the door. 30 minutes to the airport. Staff: Friendly. Accommodating. And they were happy! Breakfast: Eggs, bacon, fruit, cold meat & cheese, muffins, croissants, bread, juice, cappuccinos for a small addition fee. Available 0700-1100. Sleep: Large bed, dark room, comfortable temperature. It was quiet when we were there but the ear plugs provided on the nightstand suggest this may not always be the case. Atmosphere: Everything was clean and cared for. The problem for me was the room was dark, gloomy and tired. It looked like we had opened the door to a 1950s bedroom. I like things to be fresh, open and inviting. This was not that.

It is a very poor maintenance property, the rooms are very dark and the carpets are smelly. I cans tell it was a nice property back in the day but the have let it down. I have stayed in the area every year I go to Barcelona and this has been my worse experience due to the hotel.

The chic&basic Habana Hoose is a lovely character hotel in an old building set around a small courtyard very close to Jaume 1 metro station and also central for a lot of attractions such as the cathedral and Las Ramblas. The staff are friendly and the rooms clean. The building is well looked after. This is not a large hotel with lots of facilities but is well worth considering if you want something different.
