"utilitarian, small functional rooms, limited amenities, good for a work or traveler with simple needs, my spouse hated it but that’s typical. Location is why you pick it, 2 minutes to train, 5 to shop or RLD. I’d stay again but wife wouldn’t. A coffee machine in room would really be nice though."

"We liked the hotel, very rustic, nice canal view. Had a small balcony so you could sit out. There was construction going on the canal and area which was dirty and noisy but that didn't take away from the stay and it was outside of the hotel purview. Breakfast was excellent. Would stay again"

Apr 20, 2019Alkmaar is a great city to stay in. It’s charming and full of character. It’s full of good restaurants, shops, canals, interesting architecture and nice people. It also has great transport connections.

Apr 20, 2019Alkmaar is a great place to stay as an alternative to Amsterdam. You can easily take the train anywhere else you want to go and the town itself is absolutely lovely with lots to do and places to eat. You can spend a few days just exploring it.
