Wonderful stay!
Wonderful place and very kind staff! The rooms are very clean and it’s in a great location to walk around. Unique and fun decor too. One of the best places we stayed in Iceland!

The check in and check out process is amazing. The hotel decor was very nice and everything is walking distance. The view out our window was beautiful. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Stay elsewhere. We read some positive reviews and were horrified when we arrived. Bathroom is part of sleeping room - zero privacy. Rooms are hot and don’t cool quickly even with windows open. There are about 10 crows that make a lot of noise just in front of the hotel at 4am. The mattresses appear to never have been updated and so there is zero back support. There is no privacy if you get stuck on the first floor. Be warned and don’t make the mistake I did.

Great location. Due to covid, we did not see staff, but the hotel and rooms are very clean. The rooms are a bit small, not much space to move around. We had two rooms. In one of the rooms we had to keep the sink drain closed due to a stench.

Check in was not smooth at all. I didn't get the e-mail for check in (may have gone to my home e-mail). The woman at the cafe attached to the other Akureyri hotel helped us out and was very nice. The room was cramped and the double bed was against the wall, no possibility of moving it. Hard for one person to get out of bed without disturbing the other. T.v. only had one channel. Good location.

We loved staying at this hotel! The hotel was in a great location, was very clean and well appointed and the breakfast was not the usual cold fare found throughout Iceland. We enjoyed the breakfast! Yes, the rooms were small, but everything was very well thought out in terms of design…The room got a little stuffy at night and we really appreciated having fan in the room. It was the first hotel we have seen in Iceland that has had a fan. The small two points I would suggest for further improvement, would be some better pillows even though these were quite standard for Iceland… and maybe some plates and napkins in the room. Since there is no on-site dinner restaurant, people are likely bringing food back to the room more often during the COVID era; it would be helpful just to have some little extras to make eating easier.

Nice boutique style hotel near the waterfront and all the shops and restaurants downtown. The rooms were cozy and clean. Fun decor and high-end low touch access (passcodes for the rooms are emailed). Parking is easy and free right out front. Breakfast at the main building is not included BUT the food is excellent and recommended.

We loved our room! We stayed in the Shoebox, and it was tiny as advertised! It was really well kept and very cozy! Because we knew the room was going to be smaller than usual and it was cheaper we did not feel misled and we really enjoyed our stay.

The property and rooms are very new and quite cozy but the front desk is in a separate building 50 meters from the rooms. This creates an issue for communication with the guests. The lack of communication is also difficult because the rooms don’t have phones. So if you need anything, get dressed up for the cold, head outside and go for a walk. A simple phone call is not an option.

Modern and clean, but takes small to a new level!
The hotel is very clean and modern, but the sign outside the door stating "shoe box" was a very apt description of the room's size! There was scarcely room to open our suitcase on the floor, which then left almost no room to stand/walk anywhere. That being said, if you just need a place to sleep, the bathroom was very modern and the bed was comfortable. I'd recommend this hotel - just be prepared for the tiny room! (Larger rooms may have been available; not all of them had the "shoe box" sign next to them!)

New Hotel with small teething issues.
This is a very new Hotel - having been open only a few days. There are a few little things that hadn't been completed, like no Hotel info in the information folder in the room. There may be some work that needs to be done on the bathroom/shower layout in the Micro Suite like we had, as the rain head shower tends to wash across the floor so it is wet when you need to access the toilet. The hand basin/sink is in the room, but no where for a hand towel and no shelf beside the hand basin for toiletries or other items. The very comfy bed was against 1 wall which does make getting out for the person on that side a little difficult for the those of us 'older' people. We did struggle with the low lighting on the key pad entry to our room and had to resort to using the light on our mobile phones. However the room was very comfy and we enjoyed great chats with staff in the lounge of the main Hotel next door in the evening.

Hotel Akureyri Dynheimar is actually not quite done being constructed. I received an e-mail a day in advance that my room was upgraded at their sister hotel, "Hotel Akureyri Skjaldborg" which is right next door. We had a great view on the 4th floor (no elevator) but the room was room was cozy and clean. Good location, easy to walk into "downtown".

Ein Bett, das fast auf der Strasse steht
Leider mussten wir hier auf der Stelle kehrt machen. Das Hotel und die Suite waren zwar liebevoll eingerichtet, allerdings schrecklich konzipiert: Das Bett in Zimmer Nr. 107 steht direkt am Fenster, welches eine alte Tür ist, und der Schallschutz zur Strasse hin ist inexistent. Nicht nur gehen die Leute keinen halben Meter an deinem Kopf vorbei, es hört sich auch noch so an, als würden sie direkt durchs Zimmer laufen. Eine Rückerstattung wurde vom Hotel abgelehnt.
