Great week in less populated NE sector of Catskills.

The place worked for us. Highlights included waterfall/swimming hole within a 10 min walk, hot tab, fire pit, lovely patio, excellent BBQing facilities, large modern kitchen, small pool table, and quick responsiveness by owner to minor speed bumps. Few neighbors and they were quiet. Relatively expensive, but well worth the price, especially in light of the size of the house and weather-imposed limited season.

amazing house!

We had a great time during Thanksgiving in this house. The house is more beautiful than what it looks in the pictures, the bedrooms are super nicely decorated and for big groups the kitchen is amazing! so much space to cook and then a big dining table (they even have two ovens!). The house has everything you need. The owner is also super nice, they left three bottles of wine for us, and in each room we had a basket with towels, some shampoos..it was almost as if you were in a hotel. I have a 3 year old kid and they also had many kid games and story books, and in the garden you have a little playground. For the warmer months it must be great to spend some time there cooking in the bbq grill. Great experience!

Awesome House! Great Stay!

I rented this house for 12 people to celebrate a birthday and I must say that the house is Beautiful and very spacious, the pictures definitely do not do this house justice, from the kitchen, to the bathroom, rooms, living room every room is thoughtfully panned out and very comfy, and clean! Monica is a doll, you can text or call her at any time and she is responds almost instantly! Although we brought our own pots to cook on, plastic plates, utensils, and cups, the house literally was equipped with all you need and more. She has games, extra blankets, pillows, towels, I mean everything!! You can truly tell Monica really wants her guests to have a wonderful time all-while feeling at home, she had the cutest welcome basket for us, filled with hygienics, coffee, cookies, and more thoughtful small gifts! <3 Definitely a great stay!

lovely home

We spent last weekend in this house with 6 families, including many kids, and had a wonderful time. I might not want to stay here with so many families who don't already know each other well and know how to be in close quarters, but it worked for us. We had enough bathrooms (including one several people didn't even realize was there), space to spread out and do different activities, and it was delightful to be able to fit so many people comfortably around the big dinning room table. The backyard is huge, with a wonderful patio where adults can relax and watch kids playing on the swing set. The swimming hole back in the woods is an astonishing delight. I tried to capture it in photos, but it has to be experienced. Visitors should note that it's a bit of scramble down to the swimming hole which will make swimming there inaccessible to some people. On a rainy day it was worth the car ride to visit Howe Caverns. Thank you Monica for hosting us in your lovely home.

Unhygienic Place

Pros They have large shared back yard to play and nice patio to relax. Large parking for the cars. we easily fit 4 cars. Cons Seems like owner and cleaning staff has big disconnect. one of them must not be true to themselves. we find dirt on lot of places through out the house and have to dust it off or clean it, for example toys through out the house some kitchen utensils, basically what you find in closed property for many days. window ACs in bedrooms had a mold in it, and looking gross. our 1 year old got sick and we had to rush to the hospital in emergency on vacation days. we took the picture of the gross mold in ACs. They had unleashed dog ran into one of our kid and almost bit him before we rescue the kid. They have cameras outside and one of them is feels like just over looking the hot tub while you are bathing. Property manager showed up few times unexpectedly without notice when we were enjoying our family time. small Gaming table (air hocky, table tenis) was broken and we notified property manager when he showed up to fix the hot tub. Felt like owner is being offended a lot when you complain about the dirty toys and unhygienic ACs or dust through out the house. My one advice to the fellow renters are, if you do not care about the privacy and has no kids then go ahead and rent this place but please take the pictures and videos of the house before you enter it. if you closely read ALL the rules, you will smell something fishy. & unfortunately we fell for it.

Amazing home for a get away

This house is fantastic! Having just bought a house earlier this year and seeing so many nice looking pictures online and the houses that didn't live up to them, we arrived with tempered expectations. The house surpassed what we expected by a wide margin. Every room is big as displayed with online photos, especially the kitchen, living room and dinning area . The dining table easily seats 14 people. The living room is very spacious easily accommodates 14 people comfortably. Every area is beautifully decorated. We cooked our dinners in the kitchen as well on the beautiful patio brick gas cooking grill and there were enough dishes to have one set in the washer while using another. We found all the utensils we needed, as well as cookware. We used the double oven, gas range top and the gas grill on the patio. All worked well. The back left burner did not light on it's own, but worked fine with an extended lighter. The house is nestled on five acres with trails leading to other various trails and which is a creek nestled beautifully in the woods which is just amazing. You can walk to view the creek easy access in 10 minutes. It's tough to put into words and no picture can capture it all. The routine during our stay was to do a shorter hike in the morning and enjoy the home in part of the afternoon. We would then head back out after a short rest and clean up for a longer hike. With 3 married plus 7 children we never felt in each others way...even during the morning rush for coffee, showers and breakfast. Between the table, the large patio with ample seating, and the 55" TV showing the morning news in front of a couch, love seat, two chairs ample floor space we had plenty of room to get comfy and stay out of each others way while we woke up. The entry way held all our hiking gear without having to step over it or move it. I hate to sound like I'm related to the owner, but I honestly have no complaints and the house exceeded our expectations. When we come to the beautiful Catskills again, we will book this house without hesitation. We paid full price and would again.

Great place for our family!

We really enjoyed our stay here! Nice big back yard with deck, hot tub, fire pit all in one area makes it great for family gathering together. House had many amenities with lots of comfy beds and fully stocked kitchen. Great communication with owner!

Great winter gathering spot

Our group of friends gathered here to enjoy time together in the winter. The numerous bedrooms and bathrooms, the open kitchen and common space, and the hot tub were perfect for this occasion. We also enjoyed hiking the trails directly behind the house more than once each day. We enjoyed the town of Hudson, about a 20 minute drive away, and the nearby brewery. Owners were right next door and were lovely - good communication and prompt snow removal after a storm.

Okay Experience

The owner was great with communicating and the house was mostly as described. The house was spacious with plenty of rooms and beds. We enjoyed the hot tub and had a nice fire pit one night after skiing. That being said the immediate area was not great, with limited options near the house and it was was about 25 minutes from Windham Mountain. The owners son lives right next door, which almost seemed like he was on premises since there was little separation or privacy between properties. There were also quite a few cameras outside, including one pointing right at the outside hot tub.

Perfect Getaway

My group of 12 had an amazing time at the Woodland House. Great indoor and outdoor spaces, with plenty of room and seating for everyone. We played basketball and wiffle ball, made s’mores in the fire pit, grilled, relaxed in hot tub and spent the better part of an afternoon cooling off at the shaded, quiet watering hole. Also loved the friendly outdoor kitty who visited with us throughout our stay! Easy 15-20 minute drive to Hudson, which was also adorable. Hosts were responsive and easy-going. Would return in a heartbeat!

Absolutely gorgeous! Great place to get in tune with nature!

The home is absolutely gorgeous! There is so much space in this house. You wouldn't think that the house could have 6 bedrooms & 4 bathrooms and be comfortable, but it does! It is also very cozy and feels at home. There is plenty of sitting space indoors and enough space for large groups to eat together. The kitchen has all the needed supplies! The living rooms also fits large groups comfortably. The outside is beautiful. Plenty of space to hang out and enjoy the weather. The grill was perfect for a bbq. The fire pit was amazing at night for s'mores. The directions for the walk to the nearby fall was super easy to follow and it was beautiful there. Overall, perfect experience in a perfect home! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Roomy and warm setting

The pictures made the house looks small. I was concerned in the beginning because we have 18 people but actually opposite and it's a long ranch with plenty of spaces, total 6 bedrooms, enough for our friends and families. We had a good time and there are many porch furniture and chairs in the backyard for our stay. There is BBQ grill built as an outdoor kitchen, great for BBQ night. There is a open space for playing basketball and the kids loved it. We also enjoyed the fire pit outside during the night, calm and peaceful. The house is close to the Catskill mountain, like 20-25 minutes drive. Thanks for the hospitality.

Fabulous family gathering location and more!

We had a fabulous time at the Woodland House for a 60th birthday family gathering of 15. The house is beautifully decorated and clean; landscaping is magnificent. The Black-eyed Susan was abounding in large bunches all around, hummingbirds visited the trumpet plant, lovely shrubs and grasses. The woods in the distance are picturesque, calming and well maintained - very quiet on a dead end street. There are lots of different kinds of chairs to sit in out back and several sections of deck and patio as well as a cute little front sitting area. The fire pit is wonderful for after dark conversations. We had no bug problems. The outdoor grill worked well and has good utensils. Our group of all young and old adults enjoyed the nice basketball area. The place is much bigger than it looks on the website. The washer and dryer came in handy after a trip to the waterfalls. Nice hikes and good bicycling. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you can imagine including spices and oils, lots of pots and pans. Terrific coffee grinder too. There are good spaces for everyone to be together as well as nice areas to have private conversations. The decks off the bedrooms were fun. The master bedroom is elegant! Plenty of bathroom spaces for a big group. Bedrooms all were very private and quiet. The dining room table is handmade, beautiful and long, fitting us all easily. The kitchen is a good size allowing a lot of movement and activity. The floor plan is open but each room feels self contained. If you are working in the kitchen you can still be part of dining room and/or living room conversation. Thank you for a wonderful experience in your well cared for home. We hope to return again! Communication was good, directions were clear, all our questions were quickly answered. The owners made our comfort a priority and were extremely helpful. This is a little piece of paradise!

My friends and I had the most amazing weekend staying at this house for my older sister's Bachelorette Party. The house is absolutely beautiful and is exactly what we needed. All 12 of us had a (very comfortable) bed to sleep in and the property is huge and wonderful. The owners are more than happy to help with anything you need and were extremely accessible to us for the entirety of our stay. We spent most of our weekend in Hudson, which was an easy 20-25 minute drive from the house. The nearby watering hole was also easily accessible and we really enjoyed spending some time relaxing there! Overall, none of us had any complaints about our stay and we would 100% go back!!

Our FAVORITE home to rent!!

I travel with a group of colleagues around 39 weeks/year so we rent a LOT of homes, for a week to 12 days at a time. Not only is this property sprawling, immaculate, comfortable, and perfectly maintained - the owners are incredibly accommodating, flexible, and so KIND! And my two small Boston Terriers have an enormous yard to run around (I think it's their favorite home to rent as well). Every bed in the home (and there are EIGHT!) is extremely comfortable, as are the couches in the living room. I also love the beautiful antique pieces here and there throughout the house that accent all of the modern furniture and bedding to give the whole home an incredibly cozy feel. The dining room table is fantastic. It's perfect for our group, who use it mostly for work at night, as we can have 5 or 6 of us each with computers and laptops open, paperwork spread out, the odd printer or scanner.....it's ideal. The kitchen is my favorite room in the home though. TWO large convection ovens, gas range, commercial sized refrigerator, plenty of dishware, utensils, pots, pans.....this home is truly equipped to effortlessly accommodate large groups. The built-in gas grill on the back patio (that runs the length of the property, with sliding door access from two of the larger bedrooms) works perfectly regardless of the season. I can't say enough about this property. Plenty of parking, space, privacy, it's truly a special home that you won't want to leave at the end of your stay!

Huge Comfortable Cozy House!

We rented this house from Friday to Monday for a Ski weekend. We had 12 people and everyone had a bed. Beds are very comfortable and 4 full bathrooms made showering easy. Sheets and towels were included so no need to pack. Kitchen was well stocked which made it easy for preparing dinners. Loved the HUGE dinning room table. We were all able to sit and enjoy meals together. Home was neat and clean. Monica was kind enough to allow our friends to bring their well behaved dogs. The property was great. We enjoyed walking the trails through the woods and found the waterfalls. Monica was very sweet. We had many conversations through text. She was quick to respond to any questions. John & Jeff met up with us the day we arrived, answered questions and offered information on the town, also very friendly. All enjoyed the skiing at Hunter, 30 minute drive. Will definitely contact Monica to book this for future trips.

Great weekend!

The house is great: very spacious, clean and cozy. Homeowner prepared for guests everything they could think of. They even left 2 bottles of wine for us. One of the best houses we have ever been for so many years of travelling around. It's 30 minutes from mountain Hunter. We are very thankful to our homeowner Monica for having such a great stay!

Better than the pictures

So a bunch of us rented out this house for a ski trip. I've been to a lot of houses for ski trips, and this one was probably the best. Huge opEn concept in kitchen/dining room/living room. 4 full bathrooms which is very useful for large groups. It fit 22 of us very comfortably with some of us sleeping on the couch and blow up mattresses. My friends said the mattresses on the beds were really comfortable unlike many other homes. ( I slept on the couch which I found super comfy). It was MLK weekend and it was still so affordable. This place was just a steal and all of us had nothing but good things to say about it. Usually places are a lot smaller than the pictures, this house actually looked larger than the pictures shown. Just a great house

An exceptional stay

Review It's the first time that I used VRBO to rent a vacation house. The site is easy to maneuver and after applying certain search criteria for the house (i.e. wireless Internet access for 3 children is considered one of key requirements for both millennial and post-millennial generations :)) few rental properties showed up on the screen. We liked this particular house because 1) the location is within 30 mins of driving distance to either Windham Mountain or Hunter Mountain ski areas, and 2) it has six bedrooms which is a great feature for two families travel with children and young adults. The house also requires $500 refundable security deposit which is the lowest compared to other properties listed. On that note, I don't quite understand why other properties ask for as much as $2,500 security deposit nonetheless it is refundable. The owner of the property Monica is super responsive with any questions one might have regarding the property or the stay. Within minutes from the booking I received emails from Monica welcoming us. She made us feel very comfortable from the get-go. On the day of checking-in, we phoned the property manager John per instructed by Monica. John was kind enough to arrive the house in advance of our arrival and explained to us in person on everything we need to know about the property. The house is huge, we very much liked the open kitchen layout as friends and families can enjoy the conversations while preparing the food. The big dinning table sits our entire group without being felt cramped. Two of bedrooms suites also have in-suite bathrooms, another major benefit by providing each family with some privacy. We had total of 7 people in the group, the place is so big that we end up only using 4 of 6 bedrooms. The 2nd day during our stay, there was a big snow storm passing the area. The side street was not plowed in the morning by the local township, it was good thing that both of families have SUVs so getting out of snow was not a major problem. At night, after dinner, we would hook up iPad to the large TV in the living room to watch movies together (remember to bring your own HDMI cable and display adapter for this). All in all, it was a great place to call it home away from home. We certainly enjoyed our stay!

It is Awesome place to stay and we had great Time... Highly recommended and a must to stay place

This is one of the best HomeAway house i have stayed and we really had great time. We are group of 19 adults and 2 kids. and this house accommodate all of us. the 6 Bedroom and extra mattress along with blankets and extra pillow done the magic. Kitchen and dinning is so huge to absorb all of us and we didn't had any issue in either cooking or eating any of our meal. Even if you have 4-5 person in kitchen, still it accommodates every one and feels great when you cooking in group. Outside patio and grill was at awesome location. We did barbecue and camp fire. Every thing is perfect and at there specific place. We had around 6 cars and there are lot of parking place. Overall we all had great experience and this house give us lot of great memory.Especially the piano in hall, games for kids, Chess, long sofa seat, chairs, every single thing was appropriate for big group, placed at right location and work great for such a big group. Special thanks to owners, Monika & James. They are simply awesome. They are very quick in there response, resolve all your queries, provide guidance for sight seeing and where to spent time and all. They were very friendly, helpful and cooperative to us. Lovely couple...god bless them. The only advice i look to give is lighting in Grill area. We did grill with Phone flashlight. But that's just normal considering the beauty of this house. I will highly recommend this house. If you are visiting Hunter or Wyndham mountains, this is one of the best place to stay. Overall

Love this house great place for a reunion

The innkeeper of this home is amazing. So very gracious and obliging to make our stay amazing as possible. This mood elevating sky light-filled 3700 square foot home with high roofs with a tremendous amount of parking space was available to meet the needs of all our cars. The support area is a comfortable open space concept. The dining area and kitchen area open onto the living way. Their Living room furniture faces the flat screen television with basic cable access. A cozy kitchen which comfortably seats six people. In this household there is a home made beautiful farm table which seats 14 people in their dining area. We opt to take vantage of their efficient style kitchen with a 5 burner cooktop, double oven, refrigerator with freezer, microwave oven and a dishwasher during our stop. The bedrooms, mattresses with box springs allowed all of us to sleep very comfortably. Freshly laundered towels and sheets, with a quilt and a cozy blanket on each bed enhanced our sleeping experience. Two bathrooms privately located adjacent to two bedrooms amazingly located for privacy. The other two bathrooms are situated off of the living area and other bedroom areas. This home space is nicely planned for a possible business traveler, our a rural getaway for our family reunion. This home is embellished in a calm palette with a touch of country flair. The warm wood flooring throughout this home is nicely kept. Modern tile on the bathroom floor and foyer area is awesome. This home has Split unit air conditioning available in many rooms throughout the home if needed. Their wood Fireplace nestled in the living area enhanced the warm spirit of the house. This place has an extraordinarily comfortable large patio area is nicely nestled in a serene back yard which leads to trails adjacent to 100 acre property forever wild. The patio furniture with the brick propane grill allowed us to have several amazing cooks out time. As multi families we enjoyed our stay while in this house. We will certainly return again. This home lead our families to enjoy outdoor activities while enjoying the beautiful landscaped grounds. We were also afforded many chances to rest, recoup while enjoying each other. Great home! Thank you!!
