Bright, spacious, nicely decorated and great views of the sea. Enclosed rear garden was great for the dog and for sitting outside. The rear garden backs on to the local primary school playground so there can be noise at times but did not find it intrusive.
The curtains in the front bedroom are quite thin and don't block out the brightness of the street lights so either need to be blackout out curtains or a blind added. .
Unable to use the DVD player as there was no scart/hdmi connecter to the TV.
The outdoor lighting at the rear of the cottage is poor which made it difficult to see at night time so would recommend bringing a torch.
The windows in the living room and the front bedroom do not open at all and during the warm days, these rooms got a bit stuffy/airless. The small air vents at the tops of the windows didn't operate very well. (Maybe in the future, the Owners could look to change the windows or improve the working of the air vents).
Would also recommend some soft furnishings be added to the living room; some cushions for the sofas, maybe a couple of throws to make it more cosy.
Would also recommend an information pack be made available for guests. Just to help with knowing the cottage rules, places of interest to visit, places to eat etc.
The cottage is in an elevated position in Johnshaven and gives great views but for guests less able with walking, then going up and down some of the steeper streets/roads may be difficult.
