You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Lavender villa is set in our beautiful landscaped gardens next to the pool.

Lavender is one of our three beautiful villas set in our spacious landscaped gardens which have been carefully chosen for their beautiful flowers and foliage, allowing for a private experience, with mature trees providing shade from the sun.

Our emerald green lawns give the opportunity to lay back and sunbath around the pool, or play a few lawn games.

The pool is a massive 20 meters by 10 meters, perfect for relaxing in or for the serious swimmer to get some lengths in. The pool is situated 15 meters from the villa and shared with the other 2 villas, Available 24hrs a day.

The villa has two bedrooms, one large double and and a large twin room. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. Space to sit inside and eat or enjoy our outside patio area with gas BBQ for alfresco dinning.

We have a gated private parking spot for each villa. Guests are very welcome to enjoy our various gardens at any time to relax and enjoy the Cretan flowers and wildlife in perfect tranquility.

Our village is located at the foot of the mountain Malaxa, and has the feel of a traditional Greek village, yet only 4km from Chania. There are two local mini markets a chemist and a coffee shop. There is also a traditional taverna serving food and drink.

Meltemaki beach is 2km away, it is a beautiful sandy beach popular with the locals. There is a fish taverna, perfect for experiencing authentic Mediterranean seafood.

There is a village bus stop 30 meters from the entrance to the car park, and a bus stop 1km away on the main road from Souda to Chania, buses run every 20 minutes from there and three times a day from the village bus stop.
Taxis from the center of Chania back to Crete retreat are around 8 euro.

Crete retreat is a family run business and we live on site so are available if needed. We are animal lovers with dogs, cats, chickens and parakeets kept within our own premises. Guests are welcome to arrange a visit.

In our opinion Crete Retreat is a perfect environment for people who wish to explore and enjoy Crete, from a beautiful and unique oasis.


Tourist Tax 2025

As of 1st January 2025 the Greek authorities have increased the Tourist tax from a nominal amount.

We stayed for 6 days in September, enjoyed the pool after long days out in the heat. Felt like you were out in the country, but only 10 minutes to town, easy access to the highway. We stayed in Lavender Villa, very clean and well equipped with everything. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a great stay 😀 highway.

The owners really care about the property. The lavender villa was perfect for our needs! The property is perfectly located for day trips to different beaches and only 15 minutes to the old town in Chania. We absolutely loved our stay! The property in surrounded by olive trees and the massive pool is great to unwind in after a long day.

We had an amazing 10 days at Crete Retreat. Our boys LOVED the pool and the animals! Easy driving distance to lovely beaches, Chania and everything you need. Rachel & Rob are great - friendly, really helpful and they couldn't do enough for us. Overall a really beautiful, family run retreat. my son (11y) and me and then the whole family, we had a fantastic time in this marvellous place, as a home bace. Its excellent to come down, to be, to enjoy the holiday, its an excellent base to start for trips in the countryside, to explore both; sea and beaches and the mountains....of course- the pool is extraordinary- swimming as the first and the last action of the day- with the crete sound of cicadas during the day and a romantic illumination during night time- and the landlords- rob, his wife and ian... as the best....provide frish eggs, vegies from their garden, give excellent tips, always frienly and they have lovely dogs... my son loved them... ;) what can we say.... a dream...

A mio avviso tutti quello che serve in una vacanza al mare, uno spazio all'aperto e un luogo in cui dormire. Gli spazi comuni sono curatissimi e la piscina molto più spaziosa di quel che sembra. Rob un host delizioso. Tutto bene.

I only gave 4 stars for the accuracy of the online listing as it was better than as described on VRBO website!THere has been some updating of the property since we last stayed .The description did not say there was a full oven and a Smart Tv to use for netflix and amazon prime if you wish to use it. Also more of a sitting area inside, as well as out on the decking, with shelter from the sun. We really enjoyed our stay in this peaceful place. Ian , Rob and Rachel gave a warm welcome and were as helpful as could possibly be.The garden is a lovely peaceful place, the pool is a very good size, In October cooling down a bit but we did swim twice daily even so!Lots of places to visit, Lidl a 10 minute drive away and more local shops, lots to see and do in the area, we really didn't want to come home as our holiday was just what we needed. THankyou Ian Rob and Rachel.

Our trip to Hania was amazing. Rob and Rachel were so kind to us and helpfull with everything. The villa was just perfect for four people and the pool was superb! We really loved our holiday in the paradise in the middle of olive trees.

Extérieurs très agréables,décoration intérieure simple avec beaucoup de fonctionnalité dans la cuisine…..Très bonne situation géographique pour découvrir l’Ouest de la Crète,très calme …seul bémol pas de volets aux fenêtres et literie assez moyenne….Sinon nos hôtes étaient charmants et toujours prêts à nous aider…je recommande cet endroit

Idéalement placé pour visiter la région de la Canée. Le cadre verdoyant et la grande piscine font de ce lieu une adresse unique qui aime les environnements reposants. Les gérants sont très accueillants et aux petits soins pour répondre à vos questions et vous rendre le séjour le plus agréable possible. L'environnement est très verdoyant et la grande piscine (ramené au nombre d'occupants) font de ce lieu un endroit unique.

Klasse, ruhige, kleine Anlage mit Vermieter auf dem Areal wohnend. Sehr familiär, locker und unkompliziert. Alles in Eigenleistung geschaffen, daher nicht perfekt aber dafür mit Charme. Jederzeit wieder und sehr zu empfehlen.

We stayed 2 weeks and were really satisfied regarding price value. The most amazing is the pool with a total size, which we shared with another family 1 week, and only for us afterwards. If you like dogs, there are a few very handsome ones (from Ian), which are kid friendly! The house was OK, a bit used all in all. Might need a bit of painting and small fixings. Ian was very nice and easy to communicate with. And had nice stories why the pool is so big and hope he got the dogs...

L'appartamento è situato in una posizione ottima, a pochi km dalla città ma allo stesso tempo in una zona tranquilla e in natura. L'accoglienza del proprietario è stata ottima, molto gentile e disponibile. Tanta natura, piscina comoda e ben tenuta. La casetta è rustica e ha tutte le comodità necessarie per una bella vacanza nella splendida Creta. Consigliato a chi ama la natura e la tranquillità!

Wunderschöne Villa in super Lage. Sehr sauber und geräumig. Ian ist sehr nett und gastfreundlich. Die Poollandschaft ist für Groß und Klein ein Traum. Des Weiteren leben dort zwei Katzen und mehrere Hunde, die uns den Urlaub als Tierliebhaber versüßt haben. Immer wieder!

It was a great place to stay with kids. Swimming pool available 24/7 and the veranda of the cottage enabled easy supervision of kids whilst relaxing in the shade. Lots to do in Crete, we had a very active and varied holiday holiday from Ancient Greek sites to scuba diving and walking. Not forgetting the relaxing on the beaches, falasarna being the kids favourite.

Great location, private and quiet and still walking distance of authentic Greek village with taverna and restaurant used only by locals, not tourists, while Chania just 10 mins away by bus. Lovely shopping, beaches and restaurants close by - and Ian always at hand to help or advise. Highly recommend.
