Casco Bay Inn is a motel conveniently located near LL Bean and the shops in Freeport. The motel appears to be owned and run by a hardworking family with limited resources. The young woman who checked us in was friendly and efficient. The room itself was perfectly clean and the bed was comfortable. The motel as a whole, however, has seen better days; everything was a bit worn and unattractive. You certainly wouldn't want to spend a lot of time there, but why would you, with so much to see and do a short distance away.

Honestly; in my opinion; this facility is nothing more than a place to hang your hat!! I'd say it's under fairly new management with staff that barely speak English!! They never asked for photo ID or a credit card for verification upon check in. The room had been freshly painted; poorly. Leaving paint drippings all over the floor. The bed was very uncomfortable. The place was noisy too.There was no coffee maker in the room. There was a single trial size shampoo bottle; no conditioner. There was an ironing board; no iron. The included breakfast was limited and mediocre to say the least. And; apparently there is only ONE salt shaker in the WHOLE facility and someone had taken it to their room; who knows when!!. I asked for a receipt at checkout and was told they don't give receipts; electronically or paper!! WHAT??? Have never heard of this. So; overall; we did not like our stay at this facility and will never be returning.

Beware! This property is NOT a 9.2 rating but rather a 2.0. There is no way that visitors exclaimed “wonderful” or “exceptional” about this very underwhelming and eerily dilapidated property. The place was vacant, and in various states of disrepair (unpatched walls, torn shades/curtains in the windows, the hall smelled of day old fish, the walls in the room were grimy with splotches of oily stains and random children’s stickers on the walls, the bathroom was straight out of a 60’s motel with chipped vanity and dirty floor tiles. Upon arrival we were told to park out back as it was “safer”. When we pulled into the back parking lot, we were taken aback by a pile of queen mattresses at the corner of the building. Open windows on the first floor revealed empty rooms with a mattress or two on the floor. This did not in any way reflect the rating and clearly fake reviews. Expedia needs to get this property off of their site. Buyer beware! Not as pictured nor did the reviews reflect what we walked into.

The place was very nice. Out of season so no hot breakfast but that’s ok. Can’t really rate the property or the area as we arrived at 9pm and left at 7am so didn’t get to see much in the dark. The gentleman that checked us in was very nice and personable. Much appreciated.

We had to come to town for a family emergency and would not be checking in until very late. I received a phone call from the manager letting me know where he would leave my room key, informed me of my room number and gave instructions on how to enter the building after hours. He was extremely accommodating and understanding considering our situation. The rate of the room was amazing, and it was very clean and quiet. We will defiantly stay there again.

Enjoyed our stay, great room and staff. Place worked well for an evening event in Portland where we didn't want to drive home. Frozen custard and other restaurants very close by.

Very nice room. Pretty comfy bed. Pillows a bit bulky for my taste. Continental breakfast limited but typical. Coffee mediocre but not terrible. Only real complaint is noise from hallway & adjoining rooms was a bit annoying. Enjoyed natural foods store & used bookstore close by. Restaurant options a bit limited (in December).

We have family in the area and always try to stay at casco bay inn. It is charming and just lovely. Spacious rooms, an amazing staff and a lovely breakfast!

All around good choice
Clean and spacious. Sink both inside bathroom and just outside which was convenient. Have laundry facilities (well priced), bed was super comfy. Breakfast was simple but they had decent cereals (not just sugar coated) and hardboiled eggs in addition to toast/pastries. It was just a very comfortable stay.
