Long stay here April and May 2021. There are some nice things about this cottage. It's quiet and it's in a good central location close to old town. But there were some things that negatively affected the quality of my stay. First of all, the "laundry room" is a separate outdoor "shed" attached to the house. It's kind of a pain to go out there and also it was infested with wasps when I arrived. Stephen's handyman tried to get the door to stay closed, and he sprayed to kill them, but the door still blew open on windy days and it took a while for the wasps to die down. Second, there's only one bedroom and it's small. And there's no dresser drawers to unpack. There's a random filing cabinet in the closet, which I wiped down and used for some clothes, but also with the "wedged" hanger bars, the closet and bedroom are just not the greatest. Third, and most importantly, the internet/wifi was pretty flakey and cut out 3-4 times per day. I know Sparklight has big outages sometimes, but there was also one day where I lost internet for most the day and after I told Stephen he called them and got it working. This was not a major widespread outage like other days, I can't help but wonder if the bill wasn't paid. Because A) I frequently saw notices while browsing and B) The first time I notified Stephen about these notices he thanked me for reminding him to pay the bill. In general, I was just really irked about the flakey internet. When I first contacted Stephen months prior to booking I told him I work remotely and told him how important it was to have fast reliable internet. Whole-day interruptions or even having 3-4 short interruptions per day (which was very common) are not my idea of reliable. Getting disconnected while you are updating your team during a meeting really sucks. Anyways, in summary, like I said there are some things to like about this place but I don't recommend it for long term stays especially if you work remotely and need reliable internet.
