The room was not advertised as a room in the basement with no window. We didn’t even stay it was so bad. We ended up finding a room at another hotel. I wish I’d never booked here. What a waste of money

Property is in a great location in the heart of Amsterdam.Property looked promising upon entrance .However once we opened the door to the hotel room there was a sense of disappointment. Immediately the first thing we noticed was the lack of privacy in the bathroom. The door was a pane of glass , half of which was frosted ,which gave little to no privacy and was very uncomfortable. There’s was a step into the bathroom which was unmarked and unsafe . The hair drier in the bathroom was sticky and visibly dirty . The room had marks and holds in the walls , a very poor finish . The peep hole had no covering which felt like an invasion of privacy . The room was very dusty and other peoples hairs were on the bed . Once we had settled into the room we realised there was no tv remote , to which we had to look for . We eventually found the tv remote under the bed which was very dusty and dirty and had previous guests rubbish under it .Over all this was purely just a place to sleep , however we didn’t feel comfortable enough to even sleep under the duvet . Great for location but not for comfort.

The property was very basic. Rooms very small and not all rooms have lift access. Our room was on second floor with very narrow winding stairs. Bathroom tiny and more like a wet room. When you showered the whole floor was wet. Bathroom floor looked like it needed bleeched. If staying again would insist on lift access.

I would rather stayed in a shoe box , The room was very small , Very used falling apart curtains hanging off . Bathroom was a joke . No wardrobe to hang any clothes, it’s that small . No breakfast of what I seen .

Other than Two issues in the bedroom the TV was too close to the sliding bathroom door putting the guest at risk of damages being paid and the shower was cold and there needs to be a lip on the floor to stop the spread of water!

I didn’t like the fact the electric went off for a few hours as we had a booking for a meal and we had to miss that because we couldn’t get ready as no electricity!

Great location, simple accommodation
Hotel does not have 24 hour desk. We had to be back at the hotel by 11pm as there was a power outage when we checked in and they could not issue a key card. Also there are no elevators and the stairs are very steep and narrow; challenging if you have large luggage.

Clean, comfortable, updated room a short walk from the train station and center of Amsterdam. Friendly staff and the Wi-Fi worked very well. I would stay again.

Ok for the price
Hotel was very central which was great, bed was comfy, however rooms are deceiving in the pictures, very small rooms only enough space to walk past the bed, can hear everything from neighbouring rooms, but some of the reviews on here are a bit harsh for what we paid I am happy with what we got

The staff were great, and allowed us to check in early after a very long night. The bed was comfortable. The room was slightly run down with some marks and tears in the walls. But the convenience of location makes it a decent stay. Did the trick for a quick one night stay before our flight home the next day.

Great hotel
We had a lovely stay at Sotel , a warm welcome on arrival , we have been Amsterdam many times before, and this was by far one of the best hotels we have stayed in for the price, The room was clean and comfortable with fresh bedding, and nice coffee in the room , location is perfect also , we will definitely stay here again, great hotel with friendly staff.

The bathroom was bit dirty and it smelled like it wasn’t washed. My brother and my mom also did not like the smell. When we were checking out there was no one to help us out checking out so we just left a note and left. Though staff was very friendly. Once we walked in we were treated with a smile and with help. Staff was a 5/5 in service. I would recommend but would recommend that the staff changes the curtains from the bathroom

Our room had no lift access and was on second floor. Big access issue. Room was ok, bathroom was big but very small sink in a crevice kind of wall design, it was so hard to even wash the face.

Good hotel if you just need a place to sleep
Hotel was absolutely perfect for what we needed which was a place to sleep while exploring Amsterdam. The location is superb. Our room was room 701 in the basement. It is very small but we expected that. Room was clean without being spotless. Beds are quite narrow with a mattress topper which moves quite easily when you sit on the bed. It did, however, stay in place during the night and we enjoyed a decent night's sleep. Some early morning noise from the climate control system might disturb those that like to sleep in. Unlike other reviews I've seen, there was no sign of mold, insects or flooded bathrooms after a shower. Also checked the climate control system and this seemed to function well at both heating and cooling.

We had a basement unit which was very small and cramped. Only way to reach the unit was via a small spiral staircase, which is not suited to transit large suitcases. Bed was terrible i.e two single beds (smaller than single beds) joined together which we kept falling in middle or else falling out bed. Location was central which was the only plus.

Convenient to Amsterdam Centraal, this was perfect for my one night. Friendly check in and check out. Huge plus, the hotel has an elevator. The rooms are cozy, but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom could definitely use some additional lighting.

We stayed in basement room. It was so tiny we could not open our large luggage completely. The worst part was the smell of mold I had to spray perfume to see if it helped. And the shower water overflowing. Hotel was booked so we could not get another.

I was placed in room 701 downstairs and the walls were moldy. Unfortunately, I am terribly allergic to mold and I had a negative reaction to the mold. The room smelled of mold although the location, lobby amenities and staff were great. I’d recommend the hotel but not room 701. Thank you.
