Doves Rest Cabins - StageCoach cabin on the North Rim

Situated on the storied and historic Marshall Ranch, moments from the entrance to America’s most beloved State Park – Palo Duro Canyon, StageCoach Cabin is a destination on most traveler’s bucket list. One of the best features of the lovely view from this cabin is the proximity to the sheer edge of the canyon wall. Flint scrapers and arrowheads can still be found on this grouping of North Rim Cabins. The site where these cabins were constructed was used by Comanche’s as a “butchery,” and nearby Buffalo Draw was where the Indians drove buffalo over the cliff as a hunting technique.

Blending the West Texas legendary ranching past with the relevance of Americas second largest canyon, this cabin is sure to engage the senses and captivate the imagination of our guests. Longhorn Cattle roam the adjacent pasture and the steep margins of the canyon view consist of bright, banded layers of orange, red, brown, yellow, and white rocks that represent four geologic periods. Modern but rustic, this cabin is immaculate and fully furnished.

We LOVED this place! I thought we were going to be "roughing it" staying in a cabin, but this place was amazing. The cabin was laid out and decorated really nicely, with big windows in the back showing off a beautiful view of the canyon. It was super CLEAN. There is a covered pavilion on the property at a point where you can enjoy the most gorgeous view of the canyon in several directions. We wished that we had planned more days to be able to stay. Definitely plan on coming back!

This property was great--just as advertised. Very convenient to the state park and town for necessities. GPS got us a little turned around on the way in, and we texted the owner who immediately responded and got us on track, despite the late hour. Highly recommend.

Doves Rest are the only place we stay when in the Palo Duro Canyon. The houses are so pretty and so clean! They are well stocked and the little extras are wonderful! We will be back for sure!

It was perfect! Very clean. The kitchen was well stocked including coffee pods, sugar and powdered creamer. You cannot beat the view overlooking the canyon and beautiful sunrises! We have already booked a return trip!

We had an amazing time at this wonderful cabin. The property was just as shown on the listing and was very comfortable. The kitchen had all we needed. Even our Corgi gives it four paws up!

This relaxing cabin was just right for our family stay. The view from the back porch with the rocking chairs brought us the relaxation we needed. The well equipped kitchen and back porch grill allowed us to enjoy family meals. Everything was clean and comfortable. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

Beautiful, well maintained cabin overlooking palo duro. Huge windows to enjoy the view from living room and bedroom. We watched the sunrise and moon rise from our comfy bed. Loved sitting outside, two rocking Adirondacks and a patio table with chairs. The other cabins were close but it felt very private and quiet. We will be back again and recommend to all our friends!

We booked the Stage Coach cabin at Doves Rest to stay after Christmas until NYE and had an amazing time! My husband took his telescope and spent the chilly evenings stargazing. The views from the cabin were incredible day and night! And the sunsets are stunning. Our two children enjoyed the games in the cabin and slept comfortably on the sofa bed. The kitchen was fully equipped so we had everything we needed. Water got hot fast, which was a huge plus. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided. The drive to the canyon was super short and we got to hang out at Sad Monkey a couple of times. We also took our small 15 lbs dog and he had a great vacation with all the new smells. The management company communicated very well via text messages and we received thorough instructions before our arrival so we didn’t need to communicate with anyone during our stay. Walking around the huge property was also fun and there were swings for the kids. There were other cabins but it was surprisingly quiet. I highly recommend this cabin for families or couples. 5 stars!

The cabin itself was beautiful. I'll be staying there again in the future and perhaps next time we'll be aloud entrance into Palo Duro Canyon. Although the cabin was beautiful, I felt the check in procedures should have been more flexible and relaxed. My husband and I drove 6 hours from Dallas to stay at the cabin, only to be told we had to wait another 2 hours upon arrival before allowed some time to relax after such a long drive. I realize they want the place to be clean, but we were not particular about that, we just wanted to put our feet up and relax after a long drive. We'll be back again with the State Parks re-open after all this social distancing nonsense and the government lets us get back to our traveling lives. Thank you Dove's Rest Cabins, your resort was beautiful :-). Also, you should not put horseback riding on your website, if your not the owners of that recreation. A commercial ad on your website is okay, but your website has a whole webpage dedicated to horseback riding, which gives the impression that your resort offers this service. We found out that your resort doesn't offer this service. Be careful of false advertising. Y'all need to take the webpage down for horseback riding and just have a commercial ad on the Dove's Rest Cabin Homepage.
