Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Pros:
-the staff were great. All around. Very nice, very helpful. All excellent, especially the activity guys
-The grounds are beautiful, and the beach is absolutely breathtaking. There’s a cool little swim up bar and three pools altogether. There’s a section on the beach with hammocks and the sand on the beach is maintained daily.
-the main lobby is air conditioned, and that’s a good thing because there are about five other RIU hotels in close proximity but they’re all open air. Sucks when it’s humid throughout the entire property except your room
-Quiet resort, not a place to party (more below)
Cons:
- It’s about a 45 minute ride to the hotel from the cancun airport. BE ADVISED, if you book this hotel on Expedia, you’re responsible for getting to and from the hotel yourself. I spent a total of $150 for round trip service to and from the airport.
-the hotel rooms themselves are very outdated. Some lights inside the room didn’t work, the air conditioning didn’t really cool the room down, but kept it at around 24°-26°Celsius (~75°-79° Fahrenheit)
-Only one or two English language channels on the tv; not an issue in itself (it IS Mexico), but there wasn’t a way to have the closed captions in English.
-all of the alcohol is watered down, but it’s all inclusive so I guess can’t complain.
-great buffet
-Quiet resort, not a place to party
All in all, a pretty good vacation. I’d give this place a solid 7 out of 10, with most of the score going to the workers.
