We loved the onsen available on site, but also managed to visit other onsen in town (you can get an onsen hopping pass from the town visitor center). Overall very tranquil and relaxing. "First time staying in a Ryokan and to our surprise, they send us to the “annex” which was not as nice as the main building of the hotel. We did have a spacious western style room and our small private bathtub. We didn’t really get to experience staying at a Ryokan since we were in a building its rooms and no baths. The space was ok. Of the two emails I sent, I never got a response. I left some stuff there and asked if it was found and they decided not to answer me. "The photos don't do this ryokan justice. We had a semi-western room and it was very large (even compared to other ryokans) - so big it even has a little corridor. Room and overall facilities were quite modern. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. Private onsens require booking and a 1000JPY fee which is ok but half board for my 2 year old child at 5500JPY was quite steep considering what they served (and options are limited given the amount of raw food for dinner). "

"Great value. Beautiful facility. Good service. Buffet dinner and breakfast were especially enjoyable. Variety of onsens on site. They even have a rooftop telescope for stargazing. Only con was the Japanese rooms do not have any shower or tub. Nowhere to take a shower in your room. You must go to the onsen and be naked in front of others to bathe. I'm not sure where one would go if they were uncomfortable with that. "
