Description

Sweeping views of Amanohashidate, a boat ride to the unique Ine boathouses and a stroll around the thatched roof village of Kayabuki no Sato await on this highly enjoyable northern Kyoto prefecture tour. An all-you-can-eat seafood lunch is also thrown into the mix. It's time to escape the hustle and bustle of central Kyoto and explore the wonderful scenery and attractions of the north.

Step into another world away from busy streets, shrines and temples by arriving at Amanohashidate, known as “Kyoto by the Sea” and take a monorail or chairlift up to a prime viewing spot of the pine-covered sandbar and let it sink in that you are at one of Japan's three most scenic views.

After working up a hunger exploring, a delicious seafood lunch is just the answer celebrating the local produce that the region has to offer. With bellies full, it's time to head out onto the water to get up close to the Ine no Funaya boathouses which line along the bay. Make sure to take some snaps from the boat to capture a flavor of how some of the locals live.

The trip concludes with a visit to Miyama, a region up in the mountains famous for its Kayabuki no Sato, a traditional thatched roof house village. As most of these old houses are still inhabited (unlike other similar villages, e.g. Shirakawa-go and Gokayama), visiting Miyama gives you a real sense of what rural life in Japan is like.

Know Before You Book

  • Please be sure to select correct meeting place when booking. This tour departs from JR Namba and JR Osaka stations.

  • At Amanohashidate, the decision to take the monorail or chairlift is decided by the tour conductor. Customers cannot choose themselves.

  • Should the monorail/chairlift and/or the boat ride stop operating for whatever reason, a refund of the fares will be given and the tour will visit nearby areas instead.

  • Although an all-you-can-eat seafood lunch is scheduled, depending on number of participants, an order buffet may be served.

  • An alternative menu is available for vegetarians (not all-you-can-eat) and customers who don't eat raw fish have the option to cook theirs. Please contact us when booking or at least 3 business days before departure.

  • If you need mandarin language support, please e-mail us one week in advance.

  • The order of the itinerary may be changed depending on the traffic conditions.

A must tour. Picturesque boat ride & fun feeding of seagulls . Cable ride up to view the amazing Amanohashidate bridge to heaven . Enriching walk in the old village of Miyama , do visit the village museum.

The tour leader is so cute. I went on my own. she took care of me so well. Not much informative and I think some place needed to take more time. However, it’s not too rush. You can take time to capture all highlight of each place. The luch is also amazing. I love the warm welcome and a good care. I recommend this trip for everyone who also enjoy the “on the way” experience not only the highlight if each place. The view of local and remote japanese village and the rich of nature is so touching and unforgettable.
