Description

Explore the territory that separates North and South Korean on this tour to the Demilitarized Zone and its surrounding historic sites. Learn about the Korean Conflict as you visit the DMZ Theater and Exhibition Hall, as well as nearby sites like Dorasan Station, Imjingak Park, and the 3rd Tunnel.

Get gathered from your Seoul hotel and start your morning by heading north to Imjingak Park. Built to console refugees who left North Korea during the conflict, the park features sites like the Mangbaedan altar, where refugees can bow in the direction of their ancestral graveyards, and the Freedom Bridge across which almost 13,000 prisoners of war were freed. Take your time exploring the park's attractions before moving to The 3rd Tunnel, an incomplete channel designed by North Korea that was discovered in 1978.

Continue your tour by visiting the DMZ Theater and Exhibition Hall, where you can learn about the Korean War and the armistice that ended it. Spend time discovering exhibits that detail the military conflicts, as well as the unique ecosystem that the DMZ has fostered over the last 50 years. Head next to the northernmost station of South Korea, Dorasan Station. The historic building sits on the Gyeongui railway line that once connected North and South Korea. Make your final stop at Dora Observatory, where you can catch a glimpse of North Korean life on farms in the distance.

Overall a very good tour. Dmz was still closed. Our driver did drive by the entrance. Our tour guide Moon was excellent. She explained everything very well. She shared her family story and gave us a lot of information and history.

Although unable to visit the actual demilitarised zone due to African swine fever our alternate itinerary including the Odsan unification observatory was an amazing experience. Our guide, Grace was fantastic. She was able to give us a good insight into both the history and consequence of what we where seeing. This was a Korea highlight for us.
