Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu is and will continue to be my go-to place to stay in Asakusa. The public bath is wonderful, and it's right nearby the places I need to visit. Despite being in the thick of Asakusa, it is quiet and comfortable. I'm sad they aren't doing breakfast anymore, but the reason I can't give 5 stars this time was because of the room - it was truly tiny, and there was no place to use my computer.

This was the first hotel of 12 I stayed in while in Japan. Honestly if we don't even look at the location (Next to Senso-ji). It was a great little room with everything in working order. The public bath on the upper level was beautiful and empty every time I managed to use it. We were here for just 2 nights and it was a highlight of the trip. Very close to everything and fairly spacious for a japanese room. All of the staff were lovely and yukatas were provided. I would gladly stay here again.

Personnel très accueillant et serviable. Chambre très propre et comfortable pour une famille de quatre. Excellente vue du balcon: Tokyo SkyTree. Tout près du temple Senso-ji, de la rue Nakamise et de la station de métro.

We love everything; the room, the staff, the new bathroom, the hot bath, the location. The highlight was the amazing cedar smell coming from the wood everywhere. The shampoo and body wash smelled delicious too.

This ryokan is an amazing location for tourists. It’s steps away from the beautiful temple. The staff are so friendly and breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately since it is an older building it is very musty. Since we suffer from mold allergies it was uncomfortable for us and we had to leave after one night. But it was a very quaint place.

Very clean and FRIENDLY; close to places of interest, but on a side street so very quiet. Very generous breakfast. The western style room is modest but large enough to be comfortable, and I loved the bath on the sixth floor - very warm and super relaxing.

The establishment is right by the historic Asakusa District, within walking distance from the Senso-Ji temple. If you get up early, it gives you a chance to see the popular landmarks, like the Kaminari Mon (the Thunder Gate with the distinct giant red lantern), before the crowd arrives. The area is full of great Soba shops, Udon shops, izakayas, and tempura places. The staff is the epitome of Japanese hospitality, always considerate, always in a state of readiness to help you. I like to stay in their traditional Japanese rooms and sleep with my face against the tatami mat.

i was a little unsure when booking this but I’m so happy I did. Yes the rooms are a little of the small side but everything else is done very well. The service was good and it has a very good location, easy access to two metro lines as well as the tourist friendly markets and shops. I would happily stay here again, thank you.

Although the location was in the very busy Asakusa, inside the property it actually felt very quiet and zen, from the genkan to the room itself. The hot bath was also a very nice surprise, especially with the view of the Skytree. The Japanese style breakfast was very generous in portion and the dining area allowed for a meditative atmosphere.

The lady at the reception was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, in the heart of busy Asakusa, although off the main shopping street so very quiet. The room was beautiful, spacious and very clean. The public bath on the 6th floor is great and offers a lovely view over Tokyo SkyTree. A very beautiful place.

the location of ryokan was good once you have your navigation antennas on - easy access to trains and information and lots of interesting shopping leading up to sensor i met 3 front staff people - the 2 woman were nice one was especially accommodating - the gentleman was quite curt - i had no choice except a lat check in - i emailed them twice on this and when i finally got to hotel he was quite annoyed and reprimanded me that he had to work overtime - there is public hot tub at hotel but there are no onsens in tokyo a bit misleading

Safe inn within 5 minutes of the temple, shopping, restaurants, train station
I enjoyed my stay at the ryokan. I recommend it for travelers on a budget. The room was clean and just the right size for a solo traveler or couple. The room was exactly like the pictures. The room has a heater you can use to adjust to the temperature you want. The bathroom is tiny by American standards, but I didn’t mind the size. It was fine for me. The inn is on a side street, so it’s quiet. The futon was very comfortable. My only criticism is that I couldn’t find a way to heat water in my room to make tea or coffee. I saw the cups, but couldn’t find the machine to heat water. There was some kind of appliance, but there were no instructions or sign in English for me to know what it was or how to use it. I was going to ask but the staff was not around when I left early in the morning. Overall I was pleased.

Fantastic choice. My wife and I both loved it. We stayed in the executive suite for two nights (Fri + Sat). The property is located extremely conveniently in the Asakusa area, right near the Sensoji temple. There's a sprawling market area literally right next door, and plenty of restaurants around the area. Extremely walkable, and only a block or two from Asakusa station (Ginza or Tsukuba line). Despite being so close to major attractions, we found the area was actually pretty quiet at night, as the markets close fairly early and open late, at least by my standards (~10am - 10pm). The public bath area was also amazing. The hot tub was very refreshing, and the tub + bath area were very traditional style. Highly recommend. My only complaint was that the wi-fi signal was terrible (at least on the top floor where we stayed). Basically unusable with a phone or tablet. A powerful laptop can connect, but it's not that fast.

Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu is right in the heart of Asakusa, an old neighborhood lined with traditional Japanese sweet shops, craft shops, and restaurants. Sensoji temple and the Kaminari-Mon (The Thunder Gate) are within walking distance. I chose the traditional Japanese room, because I like sleeping on the fllor (must be my Asian upbringing) with the scent of fresh straw from the tatami mats. If you choose to do that, please remember that you must remove your shoes before entering such a room. The place is within 8 mins' walk from the Asakusa Tokyo Metro Station, which connects to the Tokyo JR and Shinkansen Station. This makes it easy to travel to other nearby cities by train. I originally booked the place only for a night, but ended up extending my stay there because of the staff's hospitality, the general atmosphere of Asakusa, and the easy access to commute and dining.
