My fiancée and I recently stayed at the Okura Prestige Hotel in Taipei for a night to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel's location and amenities were excellent. However, our experience was less than ideal. We had reserved a king-size room on Expedia.com well in advance, requesting a high floor for a scenic city view. But during check-in, we learned that rooms of our type were only on floors 10 to 14. Our room on the 10th floor faced an old residential building, offering no city view. Additionally, there was confusion at check-in regarding breakfast. The staff informed me that it was included, but the next morning, after a light breakfast, I was unexpectedly charged NT$858 (around $28). I raised this issue at checkout, mentioning the previous day's assurance about complimentary breakfast, but the front desk manager stated they couldn't help as there was no record of a free breakfast offer. This experience was a reminder to always double-check hotel policies and offerings.
