Colleague called the day before to inform them of my late check in time and was told that would not be a problem. When I arrived they claimed that they had no rooms left due to construction and blamed Expedia for not telling me days ago that they were under renovations and had a shortage of rooms for 2-3 weeks and that my reservation wasn't confirmed. At least that is what the front desk clerk was told to tell people. Funny how no mention of that was made during the call a day earlier. Expedia was not able to get me checked into a room at a different hotel until 6am. It looked like another guest decided to sleep in a chair in the lobby.
