Excellent breakfast buffet with great views of the city
However, the buffet was labeled as "continental" which almost made us skip it.
It was interesting to see how the Mexicans try to shoot themselves in the foot by avoiding the English even at prime tourist destinations such as this hotel. The sales person in the upscale hotel gift shop speaks no English, so we could not ask him any questions about the items he had on display and we were actually interested in buying. The menu on display at one of the hotel restaurants is in Spanish only. We left looking for another one. Only the head waiter, in another, otherwise very good hotel restaurant, speaks English.
Our room had a beautiful city view - through a dirty window. There was a note that the hotel, respecting our privacy, rolls down the blinders on the windows when they wash them. Well, they do not wash them, not in our room but they do wash them for the restaurant, with exactly the same view, some floors above. So it seems that with all that friendliness, tons of things to do, and overall very good quality, the logic of the hotel is misaligned with the logic of a common tourist. Unfortunately, we made similar observations in many other places in Mexico so this hotel does not stand out in any negative sense. Overall, it was an excellent stay, but not a 5-star experience. Too bad.
