Moxy London Excel

A good modern hotel in a great location, a very short walk to a DLR station. Easy road access and parking. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room but bathroom too small to swing a towel. No kettle or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. I am an Englishman who cannot function without tea. A hotel next to the docks where tea and sugar were imported for centuries with no tea. We did have an option to wait for a rickety kettle behind the reception area to boil but this didn't fill us with joy. The hotel has strange branding, I guess an amateur marketing and design team. The interior trim and imagery depicts youthful party people. The room key shows a room full of young people having a pillow fight. The sign to the lift says "let's get high". The coat rack in the room contains a large picture of a young woman's legs in red high heels sticking out of a bath. The room TV screened images of young people partying in the hotel and snogging in the lift. The "do not disturb" sign has a semi naked young chap sprawled across a bed looking "shagged out". Most of the guests were middle aged couples or families with young children. I find it strange that Marriot hotels should choose to brand a hotel in this way, but funny to see older couples looking uncomfortable in contemporary lounge seating. Good job we are not offended by wheelie bins - see accompanying photo of the view from our room. In summary, a good, clean, value for money hotel in a great location.
