This classic venue has been in use for almost a century, and is one of the best places in the city to watch a live performance.

This legendary theatre’s stage has been graced by some of the biggest names in music. With over a century of history, the stunning building is a great place to discover Liverpool’s rich musical tradition. See the stage The Beatles played on in 1962, or the bar where Frank Sinatra once drank. While the origins of the Empire can be traced back to 1866, the current theatre was built in 1925, and the style and grace of the 1920s is evident in its architecture and décor. Whether you’re catching a show or just having a drink at the theatre bar, the atmosphere at the Liverpool Empire Theatre is electric.

Take in a show at the theatre for the full experience. With over 2300 seats over two levels of the auditorium, it is one of the largest theaters in Britain. Its high ceilings, velvet red carpet and enormous curtains make the room feel grand, while comfortable seats and excellent lines of vision make it feel like your lounge room. Liverpool locals rave about the theater, and its events regularly sell out. Watch an opera, dance to an international touring band or laugh at a comedy night. The theater’s box office can be found in the foyer or tickets can be booked online.

If you don’t have time to see a performance, visit the theater during the day to take in some of the interior architecture. The Grand Salon on the ground floor is open daily and is a great example of the lavish decoration that extends throughout the theatre. Grab a drink at the bar and take in the excellent views of the city, or try a bowl of scouse, a local variety of stew, at the in house restaurant.

The Liverpool Empire Theatre is open daily and admission to the Grand Salon, foyer and restaurant is free. The theater is completely wheelchair accessible. Parking is easily found in the surrounding streets, and the Lime Street metro station is just a block away.
