Very friendly staffs. Many working there seem to have recognized us by my name and offer right assistance at the right timing. Though facilities overall are fairly outdated, they were functional and reasonably maintained. Great breakfast.

A friendly ryokan near the train station
A friendly ryokan very close to the station and to the bus terminus you'll need to reach any of the main sites in Kyoto (it's too big to walk around). Big japanese breakfasts!

Definitely yes!
The staff were so nice and friendly! The room was clean and comfy! My kids enjoyed dressing up in the yukata. Close to the train station so we had no trouble getting around the city.
