Italy in Miniature

Italy in Miniature
Ride a Venetian gondola, listen to an opera at the Verona Arena, see hundreds of Italian landmarks and have fun on fairground rides at this amusement park.

Discover nearly 300 of Europe’s most celebrated landmarks at Italy in Miniature (Italia in Miniatura). This 21-acre (8.5-hectare) open-air attraction, decorated with thousands of bonsai trees, takes you on a journey around some of the Continent’s finest architectural sites. In addition to the expertly created scale models, Italy in Miniature features fast-paced rides, a monorail, restaurants and picnic areas.

The Italian section showcases historical monuments from the nation’s 20 administrative regions. Marvel at the Rialto Bridge and Saint Mark’s Square as you cruise along Venice’s Grand Canal. See St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City, Rome’s Colosseum, the Cathedral of Milan and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Press buttons to trigger interactive elements, including moving bridges and trains. One button activates an orchestral performance of Verdi’s Aida at the Verona Arena.

In the European area are 30 reconstructions of famous buildings and monuments. Among them are the Acropolis of Ancient Greece, London’s 350-year-old St. Paul’s Cathedral and Brussels’ futuristic Atomium building. See examples of Dutch windmills and Copenhagen’s Little Mermaid statue, inspired by a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale.

Get an aerial view of the models by climbing the observation tower or taking a seat on the scenic monorail. Enjoy the thrill of plunging into rapids on a log flume and experience a multi-sensory movie at a 7-D cinema. Young children can enjoy a carousel, go-karts and a treetop rope course. Have more fun at a tropical bird park and with the hands-on exhibits at a science museum.

Walk to the park in about 30 minutes from the beaches of Viserbella and 4 miles (6 kilometers) from central Rimini. If you drive, use the metered car park.

Italy in Miniature is open daily from mid March to October and on most weekends throughout the rest of the year. The admission fee grants 2-day access to the park. Restaurants and kiosks serve typical Italian dishes and snacks, which you can eat at the restaurants or at picnic areas within the park.
