Located only one block from shopping, the “Ainsley House” is surrounded by an old iron fence with a gate that leads guests to the fairy tale beauty of gardens, elegance and comfort. Built by Don Nagel, your host, this beautiful home has been lovingly created into a perfect getaway for two.

The porch has comfy chairs offering a mesmerizing view of a bubbling fountain, lovely gardens, trees and vines. Inside the living/dining area has both refinement and creature comforts, making it inviting. Serene colors borrowing from earth's hues bring calmness and tranquility to this special home. The loveseat and chair are arranged to watch television and enjoy the crackle of the fireplace. Neutral fabrics compliment the hardwood floors. An awesome marble mantle is framed by antique wood accented with rosettes and a mirror. Warmth emanates from the tablecloth and settings of the table for two, which is placed to enjoy the television and fireplace as well as the gardens and water fountain.

The queen bed in the bedroom is a magnificent four-poster bed creating a soft, romantic feel. Stained glass windows can be opened to enjoy our crisp, cool Fredericksburg mornings. Attached to the bedroom, the bath is the picture of distinction. The tiled floors, stained glass light, pedestal sink and a clawfoot tub and shower accented with gold fixtures originate a bath of eminence. Enjoy the kitchen with it's display of antique collectibles.

Cute place, not ready 😕
I hate to give a “poor” review…the place is adorable and perfect location to walk to everything! The less than 5 stars is due to the fact that there was no key when we showed up in the evening, we had to call and wait, then a kind older gentleman and his faithful kitty showed up to tell us it would be an hour or so to clean. It threw off our plans for the one night we had away, but we made the most of it! The house is warm and cozy, bed is comfy, fireplace is a perfect touch! I enjoyed it, but think they could have done something to compensate for the lateness of availability.

Short walk from down town, and the hosts even left a firelog each night to use in the working fireplace. The stained glass windows and latches made us feel like we were in a historial home, while being right next to coffee shops, great restaurants and main street. 10/10.

Great Location
You must like houses with Character to stay here. Older home in a great location. Has everything you need and is walking distance to everything you want to do. Just a few doors from the historic jail house I am sure if houses could tallk it would tell you some stories.

Our Stay at the Ainsley House
The property is very run down, the yard is very overgrown, and needs a lot of maintenance. (Does not look like the picture on Vrbo) The inside of the house was fairly clean, but needs some updating. The bed, sheets, and pillows were terrible all old and did not smell nice. The coffee that was provided was old, as was the water in the fridge. The bathtub served as the shower which is fine but there was not safety mat in it and therefore it was very slippery.

It was an excellent location. There is a really good restaurant behind the house called Hill and Vine. The house is well stocked with dishes and toiletries. I would stay there again.
