With diverse natural attractions and rich local culture, this secluded and extraordinarily scenic archipelago truly offers something for every kind of traveler.

Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly getaway, a romantic escape or an intrepid adventure, Fiji doesn’t disappoint. Scuba dive in coral reefs, discover lush inland landscapes filled with wildlife or simply relax on pristine beaches. While the country’s natural attractions are sure to amaze, it’s the warm, welcoming locals that set Fiji apart from other tropical destinations and leave a lasting impression on visitors.

Most first-time visitors head to the Mamanucas, one of Fiji’s most popular destinations. Enjoy fantastic watersports ranging from scuba diving to surfing and see some of the archipelago’s renowned beaches. Budget travelers and backpackers might prefer the Yasawa Islands, which are known for their affordable accommodation and great nightlife.

Fiji’s protected offshore reefs are home to dazzling soft coral formations and thousands of species of fish. Explore exciting swim-throughs and mazes while looking for reef sharks and manta rays in the Great Astrolabe Reef, the fourth-largest barrier reef in the world. See the Great White Wall, which is comprised entirely of white soft coral.

Spend a day in the country’s buzzing capital, Suva, which is located on the island of Viti Levu. Learn about Fiji’s fascinating history at the Fiji Museum, featuring an impressive collection of Indo-Fijian artifacts. Browse busy stalls selling local produce, clothing and handicrafts at Suva Municipal Market.

Travelers looking to get active can enjoy an exhilarating kayaking or rafting excursion along the Navua River, which runs through the island’s mountainous interior. Check out the dramatic 60-foot (18-meter) high sand dunes found at Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park. Visit Taveuni, the “Garden Island,” a thrilling destination for hiking and birdwatching. In its 168 square miles (434 square kilometers) you’ll find virgin rain forest and towering volcanic peaks.

Most international flights arrive at Nadi International Airport, on the western side of Viti Levu. Fiji is well connected by air to Australia and New Zealand. Travelers coming from North America or Europe generally fly via either Honolulu or Los Angeles. Travel between the islands by flying with domestic airlines or taking local ferries.

Discover the gorgeous beaches, wilderness landscapes and distinctive culture that make Fiji an unforgettable destination.
