Dongbaekseom Park Tours

Dongbaekseom Park which includes general coastal views, a lighthouse and views
Wander along beautifully landscaped paths and paved walkways, discover statues and pagodas and, in spring, observe the camellia trees in bloom in this pretty city park.

Dongbaekseom Park is a very pleasant place to spend a few hours immersed in natural beauty and enjoying far-reaching views. The park, like the island on which it is located, is named for the dongbaek (camellia) plants which grow here alongside pine trees. Tread the paths, go in search of the ornate pagoda and take lovely photos beside the famous mermaid statue that stares out across the water.

The park is located on Dongbaekseom Island in Busan. While it was once a true island, and surrounded by water, today it is attached to the mainland. It is a small area, but the nature here has been beautifully preserved for visitors to enjoy. Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the serenity that the park offers.

One of the most famous sights in Dongbaeksom Park is an 8-foot (3-meter) statue of a mermaid, which is located near Haeundae Beach. Pose for a photo in front of the delicate statue before venturing down to the beach. From there you can appreciate views which stretch across the bay to the glittering skyscrapers of Busan. Look for the glimmering lights of the Diamond Bridge after dark. At the top end of the island there is also a statue and monument of Choe Chi-won, an ancient scholar and writer from the Silla Kingdom.

Venture to the southern end of the park to stroll along the long wooden walkway. See the water crashing on the rocks below and smell the salty sea air. The walkway is an impressive feat of construction which brings visitors close to the sea and blends harmoniously with the surroundings. The coastline of the park is made up of craggy rocks, which create a dramatic landscape that contrasts with the dense trees of the interior.

Dongbaekseom Park is located on Dongbaekseom Island in Busan’s Haeundae district. Admission is free to all. Take one of the buses which head out of the city center and stop near the entrance to the park.
