This is our 2nd stay on Lake Catherine, and this condo is a step up from the one we stayed in previously (two doors down). Downstairs has been remodeled (years ago) to have an open floor plan, with a large eat-in kitchen that leads to the living space. The furniture is old, but functional. Tile in the kitchen. Berber carpet in the living space is moderately stained, but not terrible. Patio is fairly private, with decent table and chairs. Unit had a small BBQ that was not listed in the description, but I had brought my own unit. Good thing, because whoever assembled it failed to fully screw on the legs, it won't sit level. Regardless, it has been used, so the screws are now covered in grease. I just set it out of the way in the garden. Someone had cleaned out the garden, and left a huge pile of dead leaves at the end of the garden. The patio slab is two sections that are not quite the same level. The entire exterior of all of these units is very old and tired looking, but the view of the lake from the patio it great. There were plastic chairs stacked up in one corner with an old patio table top standing up behind them that needs to be disposed of. We tried to use the plastic chairs to view the July 4th fireworks from the grass, and as soon as my 130 lb wife sat down, the chair broke and she fell back onto the ground. Luckily, nothing but bad bruises. Don't use the plastic chairs unless they replace them with new ones. Upstairs, the unit was remodeled (years ago) to have two full bathrooms, which is very convenient. Carpet is decent upstairs, with some stains. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed that is very comfortable, but the pillows throughout are little foam bricks, so bring your own pillows if you are sensitive to that. There are no curtains to block the light, and the sun rises at 5:30 in the summer on the far eastern edge of the central time zone. There are blinds, but be prepared to get up early if you have trouble sleeping in the daylight like I do. The AC is set to 80 when you check in, so the upstairs is about 85. We had to set it to 73 in the day to keep the downstairs comfortable, then put it down to 70 at night to make the upstairs tolerable to sleep. Overall, this unit is very functional. I would not call it "gorgeous", unless that refers to the lakeview. I would say that compared to my unit last year, which rented for just over half of what this unit rented for, it was a great improvement.
